LW Champ BJ Penn (14-5) v. Diego Sanchez (23-2)

Diego wants BJ to meet him in the middle of the ring to bang with him? BJ doesn't hit like a LW and Diego has never faced anyone on BJ's level. BJ wins by tapout.

Frank Mir (12-4) v. Cheick Kongo (24-5)

Mir has been trash talking about Kongo for the past few weeks. He gets his chance to back it up tomorrow. Due to a new training regimen, Mir looks much bigger than ever so I expect him to win via tapout but I think he'll take more damage than he expects.

Jon Fitch (23-3) v. Mike Pierce (9-2)

Fitch by tapout.

Kenny Florian (13-4) v. Clay Guida (25-7)

This should be a great fight. Florian wins via tapout.

Paul Buentello (25-10) v. Stefan Struve (22-3)

Power advantage to Buentello. Height, reach and ground advantage to the 6'11" Struve. Buentello via tko.

LW Champ BJ Penn (14-5) v. Diego Sanchez (23-2)

I really want to see Diego win this. I like both fighters but I think BJ takes this division for granted. Diego by unanimous decision.

Frank Mir (12-4) v. Cheick Kongo (24-5)

I think Mir wins this on the ground. What I want is for Kongo to beat the ever loving S out of him. can't stand Mir

Jon Fitch (23-3) v. Mike Pierce (9-2)

I like Fitch, don't know much about pierce

Kenny Florian (13-4) v. Clay Guida (25-7)

Fight of the Night...as any Guida fight is. Hoping Clay wins

Paul Buentello (25-10) v. Stefan Struve (22-3)

Buentello wins and gets back into the HW pictures... esp with all of the injuries expect the winner of this fight to get a step up in competition.

Reportedly, we will be seeing a different Kongo than the one who fought Velasquez on 3 weeks notice and hurt his knee during the training into that fight.

If you haven't seen the weigh-ins, check them out - there's some serious bad blood between Mir and Kongo who gave him his back for the face-off photo op and BJ and Diego who intended to put on a show with his super-intense face - LOL!

Best PPV in a long time for the UFC.

The opening fight was very good. If Struve can improve his cardio and add some muscle, this kid can be very good.

Florian clearly outclassed Guida and was able to finish him off rather easily.

Fitch's fight was disappointing and he almost lost it in the closing minutes of the 3rd round but he got a deserved win.

I wish Kongo would've had more for Mir. He looked tentative and got rocked with Mir's opening salvo. Good win for Mir and it was nice to see him more humble in his post-fight interview. I've always been a Mir fan but his trash-talking antics have been wearing thin on me especially considering after the humiliating beating he got from Lesnar. Seriously, if he's so confident that he's going to embarass a guy like Kongo in the cage, isn't that enough? No need for the trash-talking to embarass a guy outside the cage like he did. Trash-talking like most of them do to hype the fight is one thing, making it real personal and trying to embarrass a fighter is another. There's nothing martial art about that, its just street. Anyway, good win for Mir. Kongo needs to reassess his fighting team and training methods because Mir had his boxing style well analyzed and planned for. Mir looked bigger all over but for some reason he didn't look much bigger than he normally has to me. It was well distributed.

As you all know I've never been a BJ Penn fan nor have I really been a Diego fan but I must say that Penn put on an absolute clinic tonight. Wow! Like I said, Diego has never faced anyone who can hit or fight like BJ and he saw that right off the bat. Diego had nothing for BJ. BJ outclassed him at every level and facet of the fight. That cut that Diego got has to be the worst head cut I have ever seen in all my years watching MMA and it was from a head kick? Wow! Absolutely brilliant performance by BJ.

I've actually just STOPPED buying ufc PPVs after years of buying every one of them, since Cablevision unbanned the UFC in 2001 or 2002.

These shows have gotten really watered down, the dreaded "saturation" that killed pro wrestling (twice!) is happening.

That card held little interest to me, the UFC has to get some better competition at 155. I didn't see the fights, I'm surprised Sanchez lasted that long.

Florian vs Guida? I like "The Carpenter", but this match means nothing in the grand scheme of things, like the others.

Mir vs. Kongo? Gee...BJJ Blackbelt (or NCAA wrestler) vs kickboxer , excuse me...WORLD CLASS kickboxer, as Rogan probably said, with little to no ground defense...hmmm shocking result.

Buentello vs Struve? There's a lot of guys who beat all the guys you never heard of, but lose to the guys you have, and here are two perfect examples.

I'm actually more intrigued by the upcoming Strikeforce card-and again, I'm a UFC fan.

UFC 108 was so light that I didn't even make a thread for it and will just talk about it here.

I know that show was decimated by injuries and Dana is ranting away at fans and the media at how the UFC isn't losing momentum, etc. but UFC 108 was not a good PPV in any shape, form whatsoever. Dos Santos had an easy fight. The mid-card, undercard events were fight night type fights. The co-main event of Hazlett v. Daley was a dud and so was the main event which looked good on paper but wasn't very good in the cage. The night just felt like one big fight night card except they charged $44.95 for it! The card was worth about $19.95 and considering how watered down it was from the injuries, that's what they should've charged. (I know that's not how it works though).
