I just bought 3 tickets for UFC 111. What a scam!
I joined some club (free) last week at the Prudential Center so that I could get a heads up when the tickets went on sale. Got an email with a passcode for a pre-sale on Friday morn. Couldn't get through online. I called Ticketmaster and was told that general ticket sales are available thru them this morn at 10. I argued as to why StubHub, Ticket Liquidators, etc, were already selling tickets not yet available. Soooooo, this morning at 10 I went online and also got someone on the phone (Ticketmaster), but nothing was available....in like 10 minutes!!!!....the time I spent 'on hold.' I again complained to the customer service rep about the scam going on and was met with silence, then a 'thank you for calling TMstr.' I compared sites and wound up getting nosebleed seats for 3, costing about a monthly mortgage payment. I know I didn't have to buy them, but it was a promised birthday present for my sons. Anyway, it looks like a good card AND I can get there by train. I'm just upset at how almost everyone, fans of all sports, just keep getting priced out of games/events. And the "service charges" and "shipping charges" were a nice touch on top of the inflated prices. |

I haven't been to a UFC event live yet, mainly because if you don't pony up $1,000 per ticket for a cageside seat, you're watching it on the video screens-might as well watch on PPV, better view.
Heck, the view might be better at home than at cageside as well. I agree on the prices, especially what goes on at the new Yankee Stadium-and I don't even have kids. It must cost $500 for a family of four to go to a baseball game. That's crazy. Hope that card turns out good. |

What a scandal. This belongs on the General Talk forum. I just received my UFC-111 tickets from Fed-Ex and found that all three tickets cost, as advertised by the Prudential Center and Ticketron, $53 each.
I am too embarrassed to say how much I spent. There MUST BE backdoor, Congress-style, wheeling and dealing going on. How do you explain that, in under 10 minutes from going on sale, no $53 or $103 tickets are available? BUT, they are all available on Stub Hub and about 6 other similar sites immediately. Marked up costs, delivery charges, processing charges, taxes...... Where is that camera hog, public advocate Chuck Schumer? I thought scalping was against the law. |

Did you join the UFC fight club, or something through the Prudential Center? I think the UFC fight club puts tickets on sale early for its members. I wouldn't be surprised if people maxed out on the cheap tickets with the intent to sell some or all to ticket brokers. The UFC must have thousands of paying club members around the country-what's stopping a guy in California from buying six tickets and selling them to a brokerage here in NY/NJ? Everything is done next day mail. |

Exactly- where there is money to be made, there will always be those that look to exploit the loopholes. Meanwhile the honest guy winds up paying. Its always been that way with ticket sales, hard to stop it.
