Anyone else catch the Strikeforce card? The co-main event (Gil Melendez vs. Josh Thompson) was a real barn burner for the LW title.

The rest of the card was entertaining also. Jacare Souza was impressive putting away Matt Lindland in the first round, which is becoming routine with "The Law". Many think he'll have the Strikeforce MW title before long.

Probably will be shown on replay. It was called "Strikeforce: Evolution".

It was a very good card.

King Mo still looks a bit green but has a lot of potential and a lot of power.

Souza looked real impressive in his win over Lindland.

The LW title match was a great fight.

Cung Le had that fight but got a little too confident and lax in the 3rd round and got tagged and beat.

StrikeForce is definitely a player and putting on some good cards with their growing roster of impressive talent.

The WEC live card last night was also real good. All the matches were exciting and fast paced and the main event delivered.

I guess the board isn't entirely dead lol.

Wasn't that impressed with King Mo, nor Cung Le, mainly because their opponents were borderline top flight competition, to say the least.

Whitehead, a contestant (i.e. loser) on TUF, had one UFC fight, a loss, before being let go. He's one of those guys whose record is padded with wins over no names and guys past their prime.

Scott Smith, another TUF contestant, is also questional-but an exciting fighter.

That leads to the question, Which would you rather see, more skilled fighters, or lesser fighters in more exciting fights?

I watched the Strikeforce card (thanks Directv for your little fued with VS channel).. What a great card. I expected Thompson/Melendez to be a war. Fight of the yr imo. The Cung Lee myth came crashing to a halt thanks to a Scott Smith left hook and right hand. Lindland never impressed me. He's a real, real poor man's Randy. Mo seems like a jerk. Would love to see Hendo Bisping him...

I just want to see good fights. The UFC's ppvs lately have been lacking. i understand the injuries but.... i like the fact that strikeforce is making a name for itself. competition only ups up the products.

I think Le had a good showing despite the long layoff, he just got careless and over-confident and it cost him the match. His fault all the way though. Agreed about Lindland. I never understood how he got as far as he did with his punching style. Agreed about Mo as well. He better hope he gets a nice road to learn more instead of some tougher opponents right away.

Totally agree. Not hating on the UFC, been watching since UFC 1. But more options for the fighters is good not only for the fighters but for the sport as well.

I also have been watching since the slummy early days of UFC. Up until the last couple years I was buying every PPV. The cards have definitely gotten weak-the result of having 15 or so live events a year as opposed to a few a year.

But except for Fedor, the most skilled fighters I've seen (GSP, Anderson Silva, BJ Penn, Lyoto Machida, etc.) are in the UFC.
