The Wilpons are punishing Omar and Met fans by leaving us with Castillo. They could easily dump him and eat his salary and sign Hudson but they chose to make us have to live with him till his contract ends. Thanks alot m-o-r-o-n-s.

For those of you, like me, who have no clue what UZR is:
UZR (ultimate zone rating): The number of runs above or below average a fielder is in both range runs and error runs combined. Here's a more detailed article that goes into a lot more detail and tells you how it's calculated: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/bl...t-UZR?urn=mlb,212311 "A player's one-year UZR is not a good measure of his true talent level as a fielder, nor is it a good predictor of future performance." So MLB Network joins the bandwagon. No surprise there. 2009 Gold Glover Mark Texiera's UZR: -3.7 That's number 16 on the list for the full season. 2008 Gold Glover Carlos Pena, comes in at #17 with -4.6 UZR. For minimum, 250 innings, the defensively-challenged Ryan Garko had 2.6 UZR. That's 9th best. Daniel Murphy comes in at 4.7, 5th best. That's even better than NL Gold Glove winner, Adrian Gonzalez. Mark Texiera comes in at #40. Fernando Tatis 0.7, that 21st on the list. It gets even funnier. Carlos Pena comes in at #42 on the list. UZR = bogus metric. By the way, for second baseman, for full season, David Eckstein had better 2009 UZR than Robinson Cano. 2009 Gold glove winner Orlando Hudson, came in at #13. In 2008, Dan Uggla ranked 6th best |

I love when people put so much credence in stats like this. There are so many variables one needs to take into account. A few>>>>
- who was pitching - Artificial turf or natural - runners on base or no - runners running? - weather you get the pitcure |

Once again, the threadstarter get busted.
btw How does the "much maligned one" stand OFFENSIVELY, or will we be hammared with the old "OPS" argument? |

I am convinced that there is no need to OBSERVE with thine eyes when concluding the degree of defensive ability. I'm going to dig myself out of the mountainous snow,go to Borders, get a copy of 'Introduction to Sabermetrics',become an elderly GEEK and never watch a game again. |

I liked the poll on Mack's Mets: Who will be the Mets second baseman in 2011? I went with Ron Hunt. |

So Ruben Tejada will be the Mets 2011th second baseman? |

I prefer Larry Burright for 2011! If not him, then The Late Charlie Neal! |
