LS, I give you a lot of credit. I know you have been a critic of Beltran, and you and I have argued opposite sides of the coin, as I admit to being a Beltran supporter. This post shows you are fair-minded. I am just glad, for the sake of our team, that he is putting the stench of last season out of our memories.

What is best to see, though, is the way this whole lineup is starting to compliment each other. C-Bel said in an interview that last year he was trying to do too much, but now he just wants to keep the inning going, knowing he has Gado and David behind him. That's great for us to see!

the real Carlos got out of the cage this year, I usually do not predict awards, but the way he's playing, he sure has comeback player of the year wrapped up, Pujols still MVP favorite, but is nice to dream

I hate to say this, but we have to look at him as an outfielder not centerfielder only.

Why? He's played CF all his life. He's top two or three defensively in the league in CF.

that's not what i am saying, he is an outfielder before he is a centerfielder. In other words, you have to include Vlad and other offensive outfielders as well.

You don't "have" to do anything. The post is saying that Beltran has amazing CF numbers right now. That's the point.

"he is an outfielder before he is a centerfielder. In other words, you have to include Vlad and other offensive outfielders as well."

In that case, he's a baseball player before an outfielder. Why do you get to say where to draw the lines. You're just arguing for the sake of arguing.

Beltran is looking like the top CF in baseball so far this year.

Nonsense. Beltran is a Centerfielder. Just like Cameron, Pierre, Damon, Edmonds, etc. As was Mays, Dykstra, ****ie, Mantle..

So a second baseman can't be considered a great second baseman offensively because he plays the infield and others play the infield also?

And let's not forget he missed a bunch of games earlier in the season. His productivity has been phenomenal.

Me too!I hope he stays healthy,it makes for an impressive 3,4,5,now if Reyes will just get on base more, then we are unstoppable.

centre field to me has to be considered a separate category because those guys have to be great defensively - fast, rangy, great glove, above-average arm. Corner outfielders have to be good, but not necessarily great defensively, they are usually there for offence first, then defence.
