I was thinking a lil outside of the box...well maybe not that much outside the box...but how about the mets making a pitch for Randy Johnson for a one year deal?? I dont see the mets getting CC....and if you can get Jenks in a trade...why not try and sign Johnson and maybe Lowe.....then the rotation could look like this....
1)Santana 2)Johnson 3)Lowe 4)Pelfrey 5)Maine/Neise/unknown??? One of the better rotations in the NL in my honest opinion....I know I am the one that usually says something about the age (which I rightfully am getting beat up on)but a one year deal for Randy Johnson in the NL couldnt hurt..I know he did nada while a yankee but the AL east is a looootttt different than the NL east |

It's not a bad idea because Randy had a pretty solid year last year but his back will be a big concern for whoever signs him. I would pass and look for someone else. Also after his whole experience with the Yankees i'm not sure he'll be open minded to returning to New York in any way.
If we're gonna take a chance on a risky player I would much rather it be AJ Burnett. I actually kind of really like the idea of bringing him in here. |

I wouldn't mind having him here but my gut feeling tells me he's had enough of New York. If he was willing to come here though I would sign him.

Just what we need.... another train wreck of an injury waiting to happen..

Randy Johnson hated it in NY and I don't want him anyway.

No thank you. I don't think we need to put our hopes on another over 40 injury prone player. We had that last season, remember El Bunion. I say pass.

No thank you. Don't think he's got much left in the tank, and he ****ed last time he was in NY.

Pass on Johnson...he's 45 years old and big injury history and still expects lots of $$$ even for one season. He pitched well last season and is only 5 wins short of 300. Someone will sign him but Omar will catch he_ll if it's us though he'd be a whole lot more effective than what could projected from Pedro if the Mets gave PEdro opportunity to compete for 5th spot on incentive laden contract.

Johnson was 16 innings short of 200 for the season which would have given him 200 innings in 4 of the past 5 seasons. Johnson had very solid stats last year and will be extra motivated next year as he closes in on career win number 300. With a one year deal for a bottom of the rotation starter with plenty of playoff experience, Johnson can certainly add to this team. |

Even thinking about Randy Johnson is a bad idea.
How about bringing back Tom Seaver instead ? |

I dont get why a one year deal would be such a big deal....like sarge said this guy will be motivated cuz he wants 300 wins and honestly his velocity was still really good last year....its not like we are asking him to be the number one...or even number 2 really...Thats Santana and Pelfreys spots IMHO...Imagine Johnson being a number 3 on tis team?? It would look real nice...one year is alllllll that I was asking for...not to sign him to a multiyear deal like ElDuque.... |

You have a better chance of seeing Jerry Koosman back on the mound before the Mets bring Johnson back to NY.
