i knew either you or 5157 would jump in. it's not that it's awful but what gets me is that we are 2 games out of first and rather than omar making a trade, he is signing these nobody's. most fans want to hear news that omar has acquired a much needed bat. i don't want to hear the excuse that teams want too much. there are 29 teams out there, do something. i really believe that if omar made more prospects available, we can get help. however, he is just stubborn and sits there with his arms folded saying we will be o'k when our players come back. the manager, players and most fans are begging him to make a move. i could understand if we were 7 games out but we are right there. do something already.

Umm...part of Omar's job is to sign top international players and by all accounts Juan Urbina is one of those players.

And just because he is working on the international market doesnt mean that he is not also working the phones to make a trade.

Part of the problem the Mets have is that they do not have enough talent in the minors this is one way to solve that problem

Look I am not going to argue that the Mets minor leagues are in bad shape, but to turn that around Omar has to do things like this. Would you rather other teams sign good young players?

obviously i want to sign good young talent however, i do not have faith in omar as a good talent evaluator. so when i hear moves like this, it really does not excite me at all. i want to see us get offensive help before it's too late. that should be omar's priority this week.

Urbina was ranked by many including BA and ESPN's Jorge Arangure as one of the top arms in the IFA market.

Landing Steven Matz and now Urbina in the draft gives the Mets two quality left-handed arms, whic this system doesn't have. I like the move.

the funny thing is that you think this kid is some washed up 35 year yr old who we happened to give 1 million to.

you wanna criticize the lack of depth in the Mets farm system? Fine...But then you can't flip out when he signs one of the top international FA's which are basically draft picks.

again, i'm "flipping out" because by some miracle we are only 2 games out yet omar is still not willing to trade a couple of prospects to improve our offense. maybe it's the timing of this IFA signing. as i said, given omar's track record, i can't get too excited about this, sorry

who's excited? he's 16 years old. it's going to be a long time before he becomes anything.

you really think omar did this to please all the fans and trick them into thinking this is a big time signing? LOL

how do u know what omar is willing or not willing to do? how do u know he hasnt been calling teams but maybe just cant find a match? maybe teams dont want our prospects, since besides Fmart, there's no real "top prospects". Jon Niese, Eddie Kunz, not bringing us a stud. So relax, I too agree Omar should be making some deal, anyting would help, but stop over reacting. If it's obvious there's not a big deal to be made at the time, and a small deal comes along that he feels will improve the team, go for it. Not every deal is goign to be for All Stars.
