In an appearance on SNY, Adam Rubin of the Daily News said Minaya told reporters he is close on a variety of deals, including a three-team deal, and even a four-team deal, which Rubin believes are in an effort to trade Luis Castillo.

Rubin also said Minaya admitted that the team is not in a position to keep trading its upper-level minor league talent, as he must continue to rebuild the team’s farm system.

Bye-Bye Castillo. Hello Mr. Hudson or Brandon Phillips?

Absolutely right. Omar won't sit around doing nothing as long as there are back up catchers to be had.

Mets rumors:

*Mets meeting with Molina's agent tonight and Lackey's tomorrow.

*No truth to the rumor of Burrell to the Mets. Mets not interested.

*Minaya meeting with Pineiro and Wolf's agents tonight. Interest in Marquis as well.

*Minaya is saying he's advanced in trade talks but won't specify.

*Yankees and Mets checking in on Kelvim Escobar who might pitch in Venezuela in December to show his health.

Now there's a productive BP pitcher I hope to never see in a Met uniform (again).

Good. Don't want him.

Probably getting a good read on what it will cost us to land Lackey. If it's a crazy number that Lackey's agent throw's out there he could be crossed off of our list pretty fast.

You have to assume there's a solid possibility that Castillo is part of three team deal but who could that four team deal be for? I would imagine it's not for anyone big but that's interesting.

Rumor says the fourth team is the Cyclones, but it's just a rumor....

Jon Heyman of SI.com just told the MLB Network the Mets are willing to send Luis Castillo to the Dodgers for OF Juan Pierre.

I assume the Mets would then look to trade Pierre if this deal were made.

Good point. I hadn't thought about that. He'd still be tough to trade just as he is for the Dodgers. If a team doesn't have leadoff hitter he's a good get but if they have big ballpark such as we - he's liability given he can't throw.
