In return, the Red Sox get reliever Ramon Ramirez . This move was a little surprising to me at first, since Mark Kotsay is a free agent, which leaves the Red Sox currently with only 3 outfielders (Ellsbury, Bay and Drew). They do need pitching, though. Timlin was horrible last year. Other than Masterson (who may be moved into the rotation), they don't have any quality set-up men and they can always sign a outfielder off the free agent market.
Does anyone think we should have gone after him? He hit .295 against lefties and we have a very left-handed outfield right now. His speed and outfield defense would of been nice in either corner and him and Reyes at the top of the line-up would of been appealing. He would of come fairly cheap too. Oh well.
P.S. Imagine a Chavez, Beltran, Crisp defensive outfield. Johan would love that!
