I absolutely hate Bill Maher. I respectively disagree with his political views but I hate how he bashes people's religion because he disagrees with them. It's quite disgusting. If he disagrees then fine, whatever but he pushes his thinking on others and that drives me crazy. He thinks religious people are some what insane. Bill Maher would make a complete fool of himself if he ever decided to run.
He speaks mostly the truth. That is why he is hated so much.
I know he would never run for Pres. But I'd love to see him in a debate vs. Palin or any Repub... I'd laugh so hard at how foolish he'd make them look. Oh well...
No he doesn't. He gives his own opinions on subjects but in a controversial way. Why does he have to push his religious views on people? Just because he needs evidence of a god doesn't mean there isn't one, yet time and time again you see him bashing religion every chance he gets. He should learn to leave people alone and deal with his own problems.
The reason he bashes religion is because some people (politicians especially) think they know Gods will and use that to make decisions, instead of using common sense. He may cross the line, but that is what comedians are supposed to do. The great late George Carlin said, "It is a comedians responsibility to know where the line is, and cross it intentionally".
Religion is the most important issue in the world to a lot of people. Maher doesn't just make fun of people who think they've been sent from god on a mission to destroy evil though. He makes fun of anyone who believes in god and does his best to make them feel foolish and put them down. That's the kind of guy Bill Maher is. Instead of just saying something like 'I don't believe there's and that's that' he has to push it on people and try to destroy their beliefs. That's disgusting and that's why I hate Bill Maher. Everyone is entitled to think what they want and Bill Maher makes fun of them for it. Whether he likes it or not there are far and away more people in this country that believe in god than there is people like him who make a joke out of it.
I know his job is to shock people and say crazy things that may cross the line but calling the Pope and **** is going way way far and beyond any line that should ever be crossed. He's a disgusting human being.

He does that as a push-back against right wing religion in this country which sticks their nose into everybody's business in quest of theocracy and legislating their own brand of morality as God's will. There is no mention of God in the Constitution for good reason and Maher gets it.
Come on Tolerance. Can we please not bring politics into this. This guy hates religion because he doesn't agree with it. Yeah maybe he's a bit more bitter towards it becuase Republicans make a big deal over it but there are plenty of Democrats who believe the exact same things. There's no excuse for what Bill Maher does. Like I said, if he doesn't believe in it then fine, whatever but leave everyone else alone. There's no need to tell people how stupid they are for believing in a god and saying they have a neurological disorder. It's not right. Religion is the only thing a lot of people have.

What Maher does is take a page out of right wing religion playbook and throw their own brand of morality back to them with the same veracity they spew.
I don't however approve of hateful, over-the-top comments from any side hurled against people of good will such as the Pope or gay clergy.
Well that's exactly what Bill Maher does. He said the pope was a **** and religion is like a cult. This is EXACTLY what i'm talking about. Why does he have to spew such hateful things toward something that he doesn't even believe is real? He needs to get a life and stop bashing something he doesn't care about. Nobody is making him pray and nobody is making him go to church every sunday so what's the problem?
Yeah I get being annoyed by things like that and I have no problem with him making fun of politicians because that's actually funny at times. The big problem I have with him is no matter how it's brought up and no matter who he's talking about he bashes religion. Why? Leave people and the pope alone. They don't bother him so don't bother them. It's that simple. That's why I hate him so much and I don't hate many people.
I can look at this from a rather unique perspective because I'm a right-wing conservative who is NOT religious. Imagine that! I don't know what's out there after we die and I am nowhere near smart enough to pretend that I know. I've learned not to torture myself with questions that I will never have the answer to. That being said, Bill Maher is nothing but a typical obnoxious pseudo-intellectual liberal blowhard. He's a mean-spirited, painfully unfunny hate mongerer, and not suprisingly, the like-minded libs eat it up the garbage that he spews with a spoon.

I agree wholeheartedly regarding Maher. He's part of that know it all, condescending liberal clique, who all too often embrace very little religeous thought solely because they think that THEY are the supreme beings who will educate the populace.
It is this segment of the fourth estate and not the print part that is the true liberal wing of the media. Something about the Dixie Chicks or Susan Sarandon pontificating on subjects beyond their grasp that create a knee jerk reaction in me to automatically vote RC.
The only thing more insulting than the Mahers of the world are the clueless droogs that feed his enormous ego by laughing at anything the man says that smatters of an anti conservative thought. Funny but when he or Dailey, on that rare occasion become objective and throw a barb or two at their audience's obvious affiliation with the left wing bent they are met with the typical intolerance that liberals often provide despite their ignorant protestations that they're "open minded".
