He writes very negatively about the chances of it happening but the only actual words he got from Burnett's agent are that he would absolutely consider the Yankees.

Of course he would, he needs the Yankees money for leverage.

Just like Sabathia would consider the Yankees. It's hard to know if he is really interested in coming here or if he is driving up his value.

Buster Olney: Guaranteeing Fifth Year Could Land Burnett

I don't know if this is such a great move. He wasn't as good against everyone else as he was against the Yankees and he has SERIOUS issues staying off the DL. He could be Carl Pavano Part II.

5 years/80 mil ?!!!

I like Burnett but that is too much, if we get him he better not be Carl Pavano Part 2

Is it worth it though? He is injury prone.

Sources within the Red Sox organization say the team is more likely to pursue Derek Lowe and Mark Teixeira than Burnett.

Ben Sheets the better buy?

This article makes a really compelling argument. Please read and reply.

Ken Rosenthal is saying now that the Yankees have decided to bend and offer Burnett 5 years, $91 million. Both the Yankees and the Braves had had offers on the table for 5 years, $80 million. Rosenthal says if the Yankees sign Burnett, they will back off of Derek Lowe and instead pursue a short term answer like Ben Sheets.

Well, maybe not. Now the article saying the Yankees are offering $91 mill has been taken down. Maybe it was inaccurate? We know the Yankees and Braves have each offered 5 years, $80 mill, for sure.
