From FoxSports.com 12/8:

Sources: Yanks have discussed big trade — 10:46 p.m.
This would be a blockbuster.

The Yankees, Diamondbacks and Tigers have discussed a three-way trade that would send Tigers center fielder Curtis Granderson to New York and right-hander Edwin Jackson to Arizona, major-league sources say.

The talks are at an impasse, according to one source. The proposed deal is being pushed by the D-Backs, but was rejected by at least one of the two other teams, the source says.

While trade talks are fluid and the names involved could change, sources say the following scenario is under discussion:

• The Yankees would receive Granderson from the Tigers and one or two prospects from the Diamondbacks.

• The Diamondbacks would get Jackson from the Tigers and right-hander Ian Kennedy from the Yankees.

• The Tigers would get right-hander Max Scherzer from the Diamondbacks, and center fielder Austin Jackson and left-handed relievers Phil Coke and Michael Dunn from the Yankees. -- Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi

Is Cashman out of his mind? Is Granderson worth Coke and Kennedy and...AND Austin Jackson???? Isn't Jackson supposed to be the groomed CF of the very near future? Hope one of the incoming D-Backs prospects is the second coming of Steve Carlton or Ron Guidry.

And a response from Pinstripe Alley:

(after same word for word article on Fox)
General manager Brian Cashman would be nuts to make that deal. I hope he is the one who rejected it. Four players who could be useful to the 2010 major league roster, including a top prospect like Jackson, for an outfielder the Yankees aren't even really sure they will need next season? No thanks.

i think the deal is pretty much official, just pending physicals. 3 team deal.

yankees get granderson
Diamondbacks get Ian Kennedy and Edwin Jackson
Tigers get Austin Jackson, Phil Coke, Max Scherzer and Daniel Schlereth

not sure how i feel about this one. i thought we could have used jackson in package for someone better. at least we have a legit center fielder though. grandersons a hard worker, good defender, and has some speed. hes a bit of a sparkplug. i think the will fit in our line up

Okay. A little education and research goes a long way. Maybe Cashman isn't crazy after all.

It's a done deal, and it's a good deal.

He has one bad side, and that is his strike outs. But I think this is a plus for the Yankees and gives them much better bargin power with Damon and Matzui. Also depending on who the Yanks want in LF, Melky can go in another big trade for that guy from Toronto.

yeah i hope the yankees still keep damon. granderson adds some speed and power but he strikes out a lot. the yanks still need guys who get on base and put the ball in play a lot.

The Yankees get Granderson adding yet another 30 plus homerun bat to their already ridiculously power packed line up with more
on the way.
Can the 2010 Yankees be the first team to ever hit 300 homeruns in a single season ?
If so remember who said it first.

Poker. Sometimes you play poker with your chips. Didn't the Mets, years ago, play up the value of pitcher David West...an untouchable, the next big thing, the team's future.
Maybe Austin Jackson was just that. Francessa said it best yesterday after fielding a few calls that finally weren't about Tiger Woods (Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz); the Yankee braintrust knows more about this kid than we'll ever know and they decided he was moveable.
Also, according to the MLB network, Granderson is hard working and a good locker-room guy.
Again, I didn't like this deal at first, but a little education goes a long way.
Doh

I feel this is a solid move cuz you still have Hughes-robertson-Joba-Brunny.
Also you can add free agents as well. Not sure about the lefties, but cash is rolling and is hot right now.He still has to deal with Free agents Matsui-Damon and Gardner.
I like what Cashman is doing, this could be a Dynasty Yankee team that could be a nastier team to play next season.

Oh and heard Pettitte is coming back and why not dat old southern boy is a yankee at heart yankees fans and he's an original yankee.
Yankees heat just got hotter for a 28th world title a dynasty team.......... Bow Trophy
