Better starting pitching. Way better bullpen. Better fundamentally sound team: defense, baserunning, tough at-bats. This Red Sox team is a bunch of grinders. Reminds me of the late Yankees teams.

The Yankees flaws are showing. No bullpen. A terrible outfield. The starting pitching is good, but not great: Sabathia, Chamberlain and Pettitte go out and compete. Burnett? Wang? Why Girardi started Wang in this series and changed the rotation, I will never know.

Also, Girardi is burning out Aceves. Remind you of another manager?

The Mets may have lost 2-3 to the Phillies, but they showed more than the Yankees did. They could have won all 3 games. And they did that without Reyes and Delgado, not to mention all the other injuries. Let's not forget, the Mets took 2-3 when they played the Red Sox in Boston.

The last few nights have just magnified how Theo runs circles around Cashman. It was Cash who wanted The Unit over Beltran and who didn't want to trade for Santana. We could have had a young switch-hitting CF who can play defense and was offered to the Yankees cheaper than what he took cross-town. I think he'd kick tail hitting in the new Stadium. Also, I like CC, but I think Santana is a little better.
Anyway, since those non-moves, I do like Swisher as he brings a little life to the team. As for not trading Cano and signing Hudson, we'll have to wait and see.
Also, your point on Aceves reminds me of how Torre burnt out Proctor and Sturtze.

Also, keep in mind, if my memory is correct, that losing this one-sided to a team does not automatically mean defeat. Wasn't it in 1988 that the Mets only lost 1 game to the Dodgers all year, but lost the playoff. And as an Islanders fan, I was amped to meet Tampa in the 04 playoffs as 'they couldn't beat us.' And then they did.
