I can see why what Alex said at the time might have offended Teixeria but that was a long time ago. I doubt it would have any impact on his signing with the Yankees. |

Yankees Express Interest in Teixeira

It's a good time to be Teixeira. The Red Sox apparently apparently want him desperately , the Yankees are still looking to add a heavy hitter, the Angels still have him as like their first priority and the Nats and he apparently have a mutual interest. The Orioles are also apparently in on him.

Yankees Back in the Teixeira Hunt
This guy, unlike Sabathia, wants to be on the East coast near his Maryland home but neither the Nats nor the O's are close to winning and the Yankees would be a lot closer to his home than Boston. |

Save the $20 million on Cameron and Pettitte. Sign Texeira. Don't make the same mistake the Yanks made when they chose Randy Johnson over Carlos Beltran.

Agreed, the only problem with signing Tex is where do you play Jeter in two years? |

That shouldn't have an effect on not signing Tex. The only solutions I can think of is they actually think Swisher is an alternative or perhaps a better option or they don't want to invest a possible ten years in him. |

They can'r possibly think Swisher is the answer can they? It's an awful big gamble after the year he just had. Anyway, I don't know dude, Jeter is just about done at SS and can you imagine them not resigning him? I can but I don't think they can. Where else would they play him? Can you see a 37yo Jeter running around in the outfield? |

Good news. Teixeira won't be a Red Sox.
Red Sox are out, Orioles are out--this is the perfect opportunity for Cashman to swoop in and grab him from out of under two division rivals' noses. |

I'm so tired of this whole offseason. The jerking around that these agents and players is getting ridiculous. I wish owners would just say f u, here's my offer, take it or leave it. It'll never happen, but wishful thinking...

I guess the whole "the yankees are mostly home grown" b/s will end this year.

Actually, the number of home-grown Yankees is almost the same now as it was during the dynasty. Then: Jeter, Jim Leyritz ('90-96 and '99-00) Posada (starting in 97/98), Bernie Williams, Andy Pettitte, Mariano Rivera, Ramiro Mendoza ('96-'02, '05) This year: Jeter, Posada, Pettitte (if he returns, which most people think he will), Mo, Melky Cabrera, Robby Cano, Brett Gardner |

Melky ended the year in AAA. Not really a "core player". Cano, I guess you can coun't although I wouldn't consider him "core". Head case maybe.

I wouldn't consider Mendoza or Leyritz "core players" either. The book is also still out on Cabrera. And I don't understand this whole thing on the Mets board about people calling Cano "a head case". He may appear to be unfocused at times in the field but he's not Milton Bradley.
