Major Leagues |
The following statement was made by Bill Guerin and was in an article in todays NY Daily News. I think it is probably the most truthful statement to come from a player since this nonsense began:
Asked why players don't want to enter into the partnership with owners that NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has long proposed as the system that will grow the game, Guerin replied: "They have to be partners with themselves first. They can't even be partners with themselves. They don't want to share revenues." Da Link!!! |

A "floor" of $32 million would force about half the teams in the league to increase their payroll. How is that supposed to help teams who are losing money now with lower payrolls?
The league's proposal makes no sense. |

Good morning, Bob!!! Nice to have you back in your rightful place as the first responder to my posts.
I posed a similar question to a friend of mine a little while ago -- namely, if Edmonton is having problems with their "budget" now and have said they will ask for the League to suspend operations if there is no cost certainty, what the hell are they gonna do if this proposal is pushed through? As Guerin has indicated, they don't want to share revenue with each other or the players, but they are effectively trying to force the players to accept terms that would probably put half of them out of business!!! And they're saying the players are the greedy ones!!!! |
