I'd rather keep Pock and Strudwick and would have gotten rid of Rozy.
As far as booing go, it is counterproductive, the prudent thing to do is to sit him on the PP for a few games and let see what Staal can do.

Naslund I disagree but yes on redden and rosy

Redden had at least 4 good plays last night i dont know what games you guys are honestly watching.

I will be at the games both tomorrow & Wednesday & I hope the booing when he touches the puck stops. If he screws up then boo him, but not every time he touches the puck before he does anything. On a side note I have to credit Renney for taking him off the PP, although why he was on at the end of OT is beyond me, but I digress, & going with other people like Staal & Fritsche/Korpo/Dawes on the PP. Cheer
Nice to see another coach play prevent hockey & be punished for it, with a loss BTW.

I'm glad you only remember his good plays.
Here's the quote from BSB:
"Wade Redden is fortunate not to be in this same category -- his miscues, including a horrendous turnover in the slot and a near-breakaway that ensued when he tripped over the red line (along with the power play the Bruins got as the Rangers tried to defuse the resulting situation) were erased by Lundqvist."

Redden has been more solid than Rozy. I'm not criticizing his play. I'm saying he's overpaid.
Is he really worth 6-6.5 mil?

I would say that yes Redden is more solid than Rozy, but is also overpaid. Sadly, that is what happens when you sign free agents. The reason that Rozy gets picked on more than Redden is that he has been in NY longer & the fans have seen his numerous brain cramps more often, along with his generally soft play that has aggravated people over the years. I am reminded of a quote from Ray Bourque: When you do something, do it hard. Shoot the puck hard, take the body hard, pass the puck, hard & clear the puck hard. Rozy violates all of the edicts on almost every shift, but he is not alone among the Rangers defensemen is those traits.

Bourque's statement is 100% correct, and those are all exactly the reasons why I'm not crazy about European defensemen. While they may have good skills and good skating abilities, they are usually non-physical, play too finesse, are too fancy with the puck, over-pass (which usually leads to missed scoring opportunities and broken plays), and they don't take nearly enough shots. It drives me friggin' nuts. Obviously, there are the exceptions like Darius Kasparaitis and Vladamir Konstantinov. But I'd much rather have defensemen on my team who play a North American style, in that they drive to the net, clear players from the crease in an impolite manner, finish their checks emphatically, throw some open-ice checks, strike a little healthy fear into the opposition, and who aren't afraid to SHOOT THE DAMN PUCK.

BIDGAF & Double R, Thank you!!!!!.... for saying what I've also been trying to say for so long. It's nice to hear these points expressed in a different way, other than my own.

1000% agreed on all points, wholeheartedly!

Lately, there are two things in particular that really bother me...

1. They rarely hit - and even when they do, the checks are totally ineffective...very weak...rarely affecting the guy who's receiving.

2. Many clearing attempts are lame, as well. No conviction. Lots of clearing attempts easily blocked.

I'm so glad that they're winning, don't get me wrong - but if a commitment is not made to play harder in all the ways you guys mentioned, their success will be very short-lived.

Without a few mean-a.s.s defensemen, especially to take care of business in front of Hank... bigger, stronger teams will exploit this weakness come playoff time.

But to be honest, you cannot change the spots on a leopard. Renney's been telling them to shoot and hit for the last 3 years. It's STILL like pulling teeth.

Tougher players need to be acquired to get this team past the 2nd round.

Hank cannot win by himself.
He needs strong support.
Thus far, he's carried this team.
