Well Ranger Fans, as I said in the beginning of the season, this is going to be an exciting season. The garden will be back to rocking just about every night. And this team will skate hard, play a north south style of in your face hockey, and they will be a very close knit team. So far they have done all of that.
They have started off with the best record in the franchise history after 13 games, and they can only get better. But are the best ever team to put on a Ranger Jersey? Of course not. Could they go all the way? There is a chance of that. There are a lot of bright spots on this team. The Youth movement is showing great signs. The lines are starting to click. I have no doubt Drury and Gomez will be keys to the success of this team. Nikolai Zherdev will make you forget all about Jagr. This kid is one great player. They still don’t have the Jeff Bukeaboom defenseman they need in the back line, but Paul Mara is getting better and better with each game. 4th line is one of the best in the league. Power Play has to do better, and the PK has been great. But the key to this teams success, and the reason they are where they are in the standings now falls on one guys shoulder. The guy between the pipes. As good as this teams record is, they would be no where with out King Henry. He has been unbelievable in the nets, and in my opinion, is one of the best in the league. So I don’t put too much weight on this team having the best record in franchise history, because without King Henry, it’s a different story. But he is part of a team, and we all know, hockey is a team effort. You all know I have not been a big Tom Renney Fan as a bench coach, but I think he has done one heck of a great job with this team. For the first time since he has been here, I have really grown to have confidence in him. Sounds something like, “For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of America”. I wonder what far left socialist commie said that. I also think Slats and the Rangers made a big mistake getting rid of a 6’ 4” 235lb young winger by the name of Hugh Jessiman, that will come back to haunt them. I think that was a big mistake. I am sure they saw something that I didn’t see in him. But he is what this team is missing. He can turn out to be a Todd Bertussi type or Billy Gerin type of winger. I don’t think the Rangers gave him time to develop after that injury. I think they should have stuck with this kid. We shall see. |
