... DiPietro has a concussion and it "appears" that he was rushed back into action and the culprit seems to be the Islanders Team Doctor who has a shady past with the NFL ... here's an excerpt from the Daily News ..

quote:
Team doctor Elliot Pellman, who last month stepped down from his position as head of the NFL's committee on concussions, also has raised eyebrows throughout the medical community in recent years by allowing players in multiple sports who have suffered head injuries to return to action sooner than generally accepted guidelines dictate.

How can they hire someone with that record to be their team doctor? Also, how can they trust his judgement when it was apparent that DP suffered a concussion vs Montreal and lastly how can they not follow the protocol for DP's initial return?

Normally, teams mandate a player be symptom-free following workouts for at least five days after suffering a concussion

^^ That protocol was not followed here ... but hey, he's only their franchise goalie and 15 yr man ....

What this means is that DP tried to work out today but had to leave 2 1/2 hours later because he just couldn't go ... he will not travel to BUF so Dunham is in as the Sabres are trying to make a push to get #1 overall and have Ryan Miller in nets ... The Islanders and DP are, so far, refusing media questions about why DP was allowed to play so soon and why the team refused to acknowledge that he had a concussion to begin with ... One theory is that NHL would've mandated them keep DP out the set of days that the Protocol demanded had they acknowledged that DP had a concussion which is the reason why the Carolina Hurricanes did not admit that Aaron Ward had a Concussion following game 5 of the Finals last Spring ...

Moving on .... Montreal heads into OTT tonight to face a red-hot Senators team .... Go Senators!

Tampa heads into Carolina to visit the sinking ship that is the Hurricanes ... who have now lost their last two games by a combined score of 11 to 2 disregardless of who's in net for them .... Who to root for here? I say Tampa, yes they would pass us for 6th but if we win our weekend games that won't matter and it would put the 'Canes further away from us and the 8th spot which = Good for us since if 9 to 11 drop off we will be in the post season, no matter what

i still can not beleive the islanders rushed him back like they did.
i mean i know without dp they don't have much of a chance to make the po's but is it worth risking the health of your goalie who you invested 15 years in and is a season or two away from realisticly being a contender anyway.

hopefully he will get better soon and not have any lingering effects and if anything good comes out of it maybe the isles will invest in a competent doctor.

i can understand it. its all about MONEY MONEY MONEYYYYYYYYYYYY. dipietro sells tickets, everyone dislikes dunham and isles fans believe if dipietro is in goal, they can always win. and obviously isles still have a chance to get into the playoffs so of course they are going to try to rush him back cuz he's the #1 goalie, face of the franchise, etc. it just ****s for dipietro himself becuz he probably doesnt have a real big say cuz so much pressure is probably on him.

I was just about to say the same thing. I mean, it's bad enough hiring a doctor with a questionable track record of diagnosing concussions. But to put DiPietro, who happens to be a $67.5 million dollar investment, into this guy's hands??? That is beyond insane.

and now that they have been forced to admit that he had a concussion they are denying that they rushed him back that he said that he felt fine ... but that's not the point ... the point is that had they followed the protocol for concussions then he should've been out at least two more games

i notice everytime we say we just need a game NOT to go to OT ....it always does.

anyway my bet is that islanders somehow cough up a win because buffalo is tired from NJ yestarday ....moving on giving isles 86 pts , than a tampa loss followed by a blitzkreig vis Ottowa.....

So the Fire Islanders lied about DP's concussion? To quote Jackie Gleason as Ralph Kramden in the apartment decorating episode: "WOOOOAAAAHHH! What a surprise!".

No doubt we root for Ottawa tonight. But, I'd root for Carolina over TB. Here's my rationale: there is a HUGE difference between 7th and 6th. 7th means either the Devils or Pens. 6th means, most likely, Atlanta, or TB. I'd rather take the latter for an opening series. Now, I'm not afraid of facing the Devils this year, given our stellar play of late, but after last year's series, I'd rather we get a series win under our belts before facing them again. Besides, if Carolina catches us, we don't deserve to be in it anyway. We have to win OUR games, bottom line.

Back to my favorite Grumpy team Clown the Fire Islanders. So they put DP in there, despite the fact that non-medical, LAY people, would suspect he had a concussion. Bear in mind, one of those games he played A.B.C. (After Begin Collision) was against us. As I've belabored over and over, nothing is more important to the Fire Islander organization than the Rangers losing. Don't think they didn't force him into action, totally against sound judgement, hoping to saddle us with a devastating loss. How'd that work out? Now, their karma for being such a low organization is that they now have a 15 year committment to a player who may not be able to fulfill his contract, but probably still will get paid. The slime known as the New York Islanders deserve every bad thing that happens to them.

Sincerely, I Remain,

ISLANDERS = DECEITFUL FILTH
