i was wondering if anyone knows how many more points do we need to make the playoffs?

If we beat the Leafs and the Piles we are guarenteed a spot.....I think 6 points going into last nights game over the remaining 6 games would do the job....so we got 1 game o ut of the way....4 more points and it's a wrap...then we just have to jockey for positioning.

4 points and its a wrap? no way we're only up 2 points on 9th seeded Toronto and we play them next. If they win then both teams have 79 games played and 89 points to show for it. Still not that close to clinching. Only thing thats getting close is the Islanders and Hurricanes being eliminated from contention. That still leaves Tampa, NY, Montreal and Toronto jockeying for 3 spots.

Magic number is 7.

Any combination of 7 Ranger points and Leaf lost points gets us in.

If the Rangers beat Toronto, it becomes 3.

Atlanta's is 2
Tampa's is 5
Montreal and Toronto are 9.

NC is 100% correct, we are almost a virtual lock disregardless what the other teams do as long as we beat Toronto tonight ...

Also if we beat them tonight we can .. if I am not mistaken ... officially eliminate the Islanders on Tuesday I mean they will only have 3 games left which wont leave them with enough room to make it even if they win them all

i say we need to win as many of the remaining games as possible and shoot for the 6th spot.
but either way i will be happy with clinching the playoff spot regardless of the posistion.

if we get into playoffs, i dont wanna go in limping, i wanna go in RED HOT.
