Nice interview on 1050 Radio with Michael Kay and Torts. They talked about trading Gomez, and asked Torts about Gomo. Torts had nothing but nice things to say about Gomez. He said he and Gomez had many one on one talks, and had a long talk at seasons end. He wishes nothing but the best for Gomez and is happy he was traded to a great hockey town like Montreal. He also said, he has to blame himself as a head coach for not really being able to reach Gomez.

Michael Kay said he had Gomez on yesterday and told Torts I think you will like what he has to say about you, so he played the interview back. Gomez told Michael Kay besides the fans, the thing he will miss the most is not getting the chance to play for Tortorella. He said playing for a coach like Torts doesn’t come around too often, and he also said Torts was the best coach he ever played for.

On Colton Orr And Brashear he said he loves having Brashear, he is a better skater then Orr, and can play the game better. He also said, he is not a 4 line coach, and felt Orr did not fit his needs to throw him on the ice with one of the other lines to fill in. He also said this team is not tough enough for this league and he can’t wait for training camp. He said, this will be a much different camp then in the past. He wants an offensive minded in your face team. On Gaborik, he said he is one of the best offensive players in the NHL, and he is not worried about his health. He got clean bill if health from all the Dr.s and spoke with Gaborik in person.

Kay asked him if he thought this team could win the Cup, and just like the Torts I love, he said, you are asking the wrong person to predict a Stanley Cup in the off season. All he is looking forward to is training camp, and this team will be ready for the season. He also hinted this team may not be done with moves. And he needs the right center ice man to play with Gaborik.

Great interview, never boring like the Tom Renney X’s and O’s Interviews. This guy pulls no punches and tells you like it is. I say get ready for a very exciting season Ranger Fans. I have never been this excited about a head coach since Iron Mike in 94.

He weighed heavily in the decision of getting Brashear, so if you don't like the Brashear move which im sure you will half season in bash him not the "genious" Sather.

I wouldn't expect Torts to say anything negative about Gomez ... #1 Torts despises when players do that themselves and #2 he has to coach Gomez in the Olympics
