Guess it's a good or sad day depending on whether or not you were a fan. I was/am and think the NYR are worse without him. I believe the NYR would've beaten the NJD had he been on the team. I think he was the missing X factor, Tortorella did Marty a favor and got rid of his biggest nemesis. I'm sure Asham and the gaggle of nobody tired useless bums that were brought in will fill in just fine...[vomit, puke] Doesn't matter now, he's over and done with, as far as hockey is concerned. Avery retires..

It's not even funny how much you're fooling yourself. The Rangers lost becasue we were worn down from two grueling 7 game series with virtually no rest in between coupled with a lack of offensive firepower. Avery wouldn't have made one lick of difference.

I was a huge Avery fan, but I started to get sick and tired of his immaturity. He has noone but himself to blame for the downfall of his hockey career.

The bit about Marty needing a B-12 shot was hilarious. And the "I'm still waiting for someone who's hot" line was great too.

I am with you Double R, Avery would have not made a difference. Whats kills me so much is how some make this guy to be this clutch player in the playoffs and in the regular season. That would be Glen Anderson not Avery!!! Avery barely had a career, I am glad he is finish, now maybe he can get on with his fashion career and playing with Barbie dolls!!!!!

I wish we had Adam Graves back in his prime, now that was a NYR!!!!

Like him or not, always thought he was useful, despite obvious faults. Definitely was the missing part in the loss to the Devils. A gift to Marty by the NYR...

[QUOTE]Originally posted by mikemart: Like him or not, always thought he was useful, despite obvious faults. ] Perfectly stated. Even in his last days as a ranger, was always working hard down low. One thing I will say is that Avery would have helped our 4th. line against the devils. Enough to help us win the series? Probably not. It would have been interesting if he was there. I'm confused though. Richter 35 says he barely had a career and then Richter stated that he misses him.

I would love to have Avery back as a fourth liner, but with it was never going to work with Torts. At his best he could skate and agitated everyone, he brought an edge to the team cause you never knew what he was going to do. Not knowing what he was going to do was also the problem, from a coaching standpoint. He was entertaining though. Here's to you Sean Avery

You left out a key word in your last sentence there Paulzzy, that word is male. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)
