I'm tired of all of this. This guy has proved over and over again that he will do whatever it takes to be a ranger and help this team win. Over and over again all he says is how much he wants to be a ranger. F Mats. This is craziness. Shanahan actually knows that HE WANTS TO PLAY HOCKEY. and he only wants to play for us. 4get everyone who says theres no room for him. get shanny signed and in a blueshirt asafp.

He's one of few who at this point would actually mean it when they say that they bleed blue and red.

He's gonna have to tie a rope around Gomez in order to keep up with him. Face it, he doesn't have the wheels (never did but not this bad). His lack of foot speed have made it hard for him to even get to the spots on the ice he needs to be. Unless the play is already established in the zone or on the powerplay then he is useless out there. It's like watching Messier at the end of his career. Yes the desire is there, yes he still has the shot. But the wheels? No. He didn't even physically engage himself.

Pass the torch already. This is Gomez and Drury's team.

Check Shanny's stats. He averaged over 18 minutes per game. That's Renney's fault. Shanny is excellent on the PK and a force on the PP. With reduced time at even strength, he's well worth signing, IMO.

have you seen the diffrenece between gomez and shanny? of course nobody is gonna keep up with gomez! the only person in the league that would be foot and foot with him would only be Marty St.Louis, besides we don't NEED gomez to play with shanny right?

There is no questioning Shanahan's professionalism, leadership, and loyalty. That's never been an issue. What IS an issue is that age has caught up with him and he's lost a step as a result. I admire Shanny as much as anyone, but it's time for the Rangers to say goodbye to him and get some fresh young legs in there.

shany is done. period.

let it go people. his legs are shot. this team is all about speed and pressure, and that folks, aint brendan shanahan.

he cant play top 6 minutes- theres no room really. he isnt a 3rd liner over guys like cally, kopedo, fritsche, prucha or even sjo. and he isnt gonna play 4th line minutes.

we have capable pp guys for 2 lines and he does not need to play the pk. he has no role. no spot on this team. we have dru and naslund and gomez and redden for leadership.

i love shany, but its time to cut him loose. sure fire hall of famer or not, its over.

This kind of reminds me of when Messier's career was winding down. We loved him so much, and kept hoping that something would work out, or at least i did, but in the back of my mind i knew that i'd just have to let it go.

All good things come to an end.

This is how i feel about Shanny...he's been my favorite Ranger ever since he came, but i guess his time here has to come to an end sometime.

And so i salute shanny, he's been one of my favorites even when he played for Detroit and St Louis, like breakaway said, sure Hall of Fame player, and a class act.

congrats Shan Applaude

Well, if the decision were made by fan voting... my vote is for signing Shanny. Don't need to give my reasons. We all know the pros and the cons of signing the guy. I think the pros outweigh the cons this year.
But to be honest, if Sather was going to sign him I think he would have done it by now. Oh well...
