Forward Joffrey Lupul reached terms Monday on a 4-year, $17-million US extension with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Lupul, 24, will make $2.9 million US this season in the final year of his current contract,
then $4.25 million US in each year of the extension.

He is committed to the Flyers through the 2012-13 NHL campaign.

Hockey Night in Canada will welcome a familiar face and opinionated hockey mind next season, with Mike Milbury joining the show as an analyst.

I can't believe this guy has been in our system 5 years already. 6'6", 230 lbs. Doesn't it seem he could be a tree in front of the opposing team's net?

The one glaring weakness that Jessiman seems to have is a lack of speed. I realize that with his gigantic size, it's unrealistic to expect him to have blazing speed. But I remember watching him in a preseason game last year and I couldn't believe how slow he looked. He has GOT to improve in that area if he's going to have any chance whatsoever of graduating to the next level.

So, unless he gains some speed to keep up, he appears to be another underachieving draft choice.

his size aside, he's perhaps a 3rd line /4th line guy talent wise. at best. one more year and this saga will end. enough of the "big guys just take longer to develop" crap too.

he needs to learn how to fight and maybe he becomes a useful 4th line guy. hes got a way to go tho. he has more upside than say colton orr, but that aint sayin alot.

huge mistake to take the huge specemin in the first round. and to think we coulda had dustin brown... ugh.

the sooner he goes the sooner we forget him.

Rugged forward Daniel Carcillo was re-signed Tuesday to a 2-year contract by the Phoenix Coyotes.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Carcillo, 23, led the NHL with 324 penalty minutes last season — as a rookie.

"We're very pleased to have signed Daniel Carcillo to a new contract," Coyotes general manager Don Maloney said. "He is a key member of our team who brings a unique combination of toughness, speed and skill to the lineup."

Parise went right after Jessiman.

I think if things went the other way. We'd be talking about how we should have went after Jessiman and how Parise is turning into someone like Prucha. That's just the Ranger luck. At the time, it was a need we were looking for. Unfortunately for Hugh, things did not start on the right foot as he blew out his knee the year he was drafted and was never the same since.
