Okay Rangers fans, here's the deal: First off, I wish you all a safe and a happy new year. Second, a few months ago for my birthday, my girlfriend gave me a 2008 New York Rangers daily desktop calendar, one that you tear off a page every day. I had the pleasure of opening it a few minutes ago, and many pages (but not all) contain a New York Rangers trivia question (the other pages contain a Rangers fact- trivia questions and Rangers facts seem to alternate from day to day). So let's make a game out of it. I will post the question on days when a question appears, probably between the hours of 8 and 9 am. EST, and the FIRST of you to reply with the correct answer will get a point. Hopefully we can keep it going all year and at the end of the year we'll see who has totaled the most points. Good luck to all and we should learn some interesting facts about our beloved Rangers. In the case of any disputes, my decision will be final.

January 1, 2008- Which Ranger was the first Russian-born player to be chosen in the first round of an NHL Entry Draft?
Bonus point- What year?
Bonus point- What number pick was the player chosen overall?

breakaway takes the early lead with 3 points, nicely done. Alexei Kovalev, 15th pick overall, 1991.
Next question will be posted Jan. 3rd, around 9am...

I want to make one change, starting immediately: The trivia questions will be posted at random times, unscheduled and unannounced, to try to be fair to everybody. Watch for the next question to be posted sometime later today. You'll have to check back occasionally. It appears the trivia questions will fall on every other day...

Here's another twist- some of these "New York Rangers Facts" that appear can be turned into an interesting trivia question. That's exactly what I'm going to do. So here is today's question, a hard one:

January 4, 2008- Who became the first player in NHL history (a Ranger) to score 100 points in consecutive seasons with two different teams?
Bonus point- What year (season)?
Bonus point- What team did the player play for the previous season?
(Bonus points are available for anyone to answer)
