Its a risk but one that is worth the gamble if he stays healthy. Gaborik and Higgins will go well with Drury in scoring

7.5!!!!!

He's like a compulsive spender, as soon as he gets money he has to buy something.

Very unhappy...

If healthy we just got a guy who can put the puck in the net. I know last year was a down year for him but lets remember what he did vs us last year Nodding Yes Now he will be doing it FOR us an even bigger plus

Good point. Everyone is over looking Higgens, he's a young two way forward who will most likely net at least 20 goals next year and maybe as high as 30. That replaces what we lost in Naslund, as well as getting better defensively and younger.

How the ***k is he a walking injury, he had a groin injury big deal grow up!!!! And even if somehow he does have a injury, if we put him on the injured reserve he doesn't count on the cap. So all it costs is the Dolans money which they don't care.

Thank You, we have guys who can score in Higgins, Drury, and now Gaborik. Getting goals shouldn't be a problem this year

Imagine if Zherdev steps up and plays to his potential. Eeker

There will be a lot of "if's" this year but you ever know what could happen.

I know but that's a ton of money for someone who's never played a full season.

If Sather ships out another contract, probably Rosival, then this looks better.

I HOPE Sather has a plan to do that, we need cash to sign our RFA's.

Tell me where the Rangers are going to get the money to pay for him? aside from that I'd rather have Antropov over Zherdev cause Z really didn't do much for us that would make me want him bad enough since we now have Gaborik

I wish I could be completely elated right now, but I can't. But I am cautiously optimistic. Obviously Gaborik is one of the most talented players in the game, but he is also one of the most fragile. The big question mark is can he stay healthy? That being said, great job by Sather for sticking to his guns and not trading away any of our young players or prospects for a Danny Heatley. Let's all keep our fingers and toes crossed in hoping that Gaborik stays relatively injury-free. Best of luck on Broadway, Marion!

Cheers

It could be 6.5. NHL network just reported it as 5 years 32.5 million.

They already have the money to trade him because that's what they were paying Gomez ...

but I think they'll have to tade another big contract, probably Roszival ...

Also if Gaborik isn't over his injuries his Salary comes OFF the Cap if he's on IR if it's a LTI ... so if it works, it's a major score now that we don't have Jagr, if it fails because of injury then we're covered ... if it fails because he suddenly forgets how to play like the world class talent that he is we are royally scr3wed

Guys do you realize we got this guy in his prime? Do you realize this is the 1st guy we got who can single handly take over the game at any time? He is just a minor downgrade from say Ovechkin.
