What made you pick jagr over everyone else? |

2005-06: 54 goals, 69 assists, 123 points. The Rangers' all-time season records for goals and points. Probably the most talented forward the Rangers have ever had (except of course for the Great One, Wayne Gretzky; but Jagr had better numbers as a Ranger). Who has been better? |

I was just curious , some people may say...oh well 3 seasons isin't enough to be a true ranger etc , just wanted to hear the reason.

In my eyes, Jagr was a true Ranger as soon as he put on the Rangers' red, white and blue uniform; and when he scored every one of those 54 goals and 123 points (Rangers records); and when he wore the captain's "C"; and when he gave his blood, heart and soul (and his front teeth) for the Rangers and for Rangers fans. Just imagine a forward line of Messier, Jagr and Graves... Now, if you want to talk 'true' Rangers, how about an all-time starting lineup of players who played their entire NHL careers with one team and one team only, the Rangers (I'm limiting it to players who have retired, so Brandon Dubinsky, Nigel Dawes, Ryan Callahan, Marc Staal, Dan Girardi, Henrik Lundqvist, etc. are not eligible). My 'true' Ranger team would be: C Walt Tkaczuk LW Steve Vickers RW Rod Gilbert D Ron Greschner D Muzz Patrick G Mike Richter With honorable mention to Anders Hedberg, Ulf Nilsson, Jan Erixon, Fred Shero and Steve Baker. Your thoughts? |

your post reminded me of something , i was watching Gretzky's last game(as a ranger of course) and it was vs the pens.
After the ridiculous ovation gretzky got for stepping on the ice he went over to jagr(who was captain of the pens at the time) and he told him "your the next to lead them" Funny how that turned out huh? |

Ratelle over Messier? No way. During his time with the Rangers, Mark Messier won the Hart Trophy as the league's Most Valuble Player and the Lester B. Pearson Award (league's outstanding player, chosen by the NHL Player's Association), both in 1991-92; and led the team to a Stanley Cup Championship (1994). Ratelle never did any of that. Messier is one of the top four or five players to ever play the game (Gretzky, Howe, Orr). Ratelle is not. And don't tell me Ratelle had a 109 point season while Messier only recorded 107, because if that's the case, why not have Jagr (123) over Gilbert? If Messier and Ratelle lined up to face each other, who would you rather have? |
