Okay, the Rangers dumped Gomez and now have Higgins. I will be pizzzed if Komisarek signs with them.
According to today's Newsday, we are 8 million dollars UNDER (yes-UNDER) the league mandated salary cap FLOOR.
Now, I'm not saying we should be stupid, but...
-Komisarek deserves a look. (But we have two rugged, stay-at-home d-men in Witt and Sutton) Oh yeah? and when was the last time you saw Sutton play every day? He protects DP from the trainer's room.
-Knuble would be my target. 6'2", captain-like material. Plays 100%, relatively young, does well in the East.
-Some sort of real goalie. I hear Clemmensen, Conklin and Fla's Anderson are targeted.
-Lastly, we need a bruiser to protect Tavares. Ask Gretzky, Crosby and Ovechkin how important that is?
Of course, I could go on, but I know Snow/Wang won't waste money and we are still re-building, NOT adding that final piece to a Cup run.
Are my ideas realistic?

According to Botte, Komisarek talking with Isles, but more likely to sign elsewhere, including the Rangers. Fla goalie Anderson close to Colorado.
Remember, the Isles HAVE TO spend to at least get UP to the salary cap floor.

Looks like we signed Roloson as our goalie, according to the NHL Network via Newsday.
If so, good move.
via Botte:
"The absolute right move. The best goalie they could get for the shortest term. $2.5 million a year for two years for Dwayne Roloson, who was Edmonton’s MVP last season. He’s 40, but keeps himself in great chape and is known for his intense focus.
Well-done by Garth Snow."

yah it's totaly B----the only solid thing about this summer and what direction they are heading is getting the Top Pick and getting like this 6'7 goalie and now roloston.
So,what next for this team?
You still need another powerfoward and maybe another Utility player.
Just my opinion Fans,How do you let Mike Knuble go?Gaborak would have been nice too.

Clueless?
Confused

It's been quite lately, except for the attention to rookie camp. NJ brings back Jacques Lemaire as coach (return to the trap?) and NYR were put on notice by Torts about accepting Brashear.
As for us, very few rumors from anywhere and still no muscle. Snow MUST know that we can't let the kids get beat up all night.

Unless the Islanders are being quiet and just going with the youth Movement and focusing in on the "Light House project"..........
It is a huge deal on Long Island cuz Isles have the spotlight and Top pick from Canada.
I say go after a top Free agent and add size and speed and under the cap space.

This isn't over yet,It's still early til Camps.
Go Islanders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I said umpteen times, we can't allow our kids to get concussed. The 2nd and 3rd time they get blasted, the easier to get concussed (brain injury). We don't need to lose these kids like we lost Bret Lindros.

Devastating Hit From Dion Phaneuf

Posted Sep 17, 2009 11:30PM By Adam Gretz (RSS feed)
It's not often that preseason games provide anything newsworthy, but Thursday night's meeting between the New York Islanders and Calgary Flames has proven to be the exception.

Just over five minutes into the second period, Islanders forward Kyle Okposo carried the puck through the neutral zone and was on the receiving end of a devastating hit from Calgary defenseman Dion Phaneuf.

A skirmish ensued, nearly involving both goaltenders, while Okposo remained on the ice. He was eventually taken off on a stretcher

Game about to start in KC. I can't find it anywhere. I miss Sportschannel. On MSG and MSG+ we can watch concerts and stuff....maybe replays of the four NYR pre-season games they showed, too. But NYI in KC, nowhere to be found. I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on the injury list and hope nobody gets run tonight.
