Lottery draw tonight in Toronto. Oddly, the Leafs great pick will be Bosotn's. We have an 8.1% chance of getting the #1.

No way. Unfortunately, this team comes to play irregardless, and that s@#ks for us fans at the moment. What will probably happen is the following: The Penguins will not show up. They're done. They have absolutely nothing for which to play. We will probably win and then watch these illadvised heroes of ours celebrate a meaningless win to "give the crowd something to feel great about" in the off season. Carolina is done. No more games. We will then be tied with them. Columbus is done. They have 79 pts. so we'll trail them. No matter what happens in the Florida v. Tampa scirmish BOTH teams will at least be tied with us if not ahead of us in the standings.

Ergo, due to their shortsighted efforts tomorrow I think the Islanders will wind up tied for sixth which could be seventh, in event of a tiebreaker. As we all know, seventh could be ninth in the lottery *****.

Henceforth we all should brace for the next Tyler Pyatt.

AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
The Pens have nothing to play for? Spell it out for me,Red. They currently are the 4 seed in the East, one point behind Buffalo with the Devils two ahead. Should Buffalo beat NJ tomorrow, they(Pittsburgh) leap frog into a tie for the 3 seed with the later,if they whip the Isles. Nodding Yes If NJ beats Buffalo and the Pens beat the Isles they clinch the 3 seed. Nodding Yes I believe home ice for the first round may be at stake as well as the quality of opponent. Question Keep in mind,Crosby has 49 goals, one behind Ovy and Stamkos. I'm with ya now. Last nights performance against NJ was deplorable. One more win at this point doesn't mean squat for growth! If Tampa Bay takes Fla into OT tomorrow and loses either then or in a shootout, they both will pass the Isles in points with the Isles sliding into the bottom lottery 3,provided the Isles spread their damn legs tomorrow!!
The one thing that I believe will act as an impetus is Crosby going for 50. The other scenarios are almost to convoluted.

ALSO, as much as it is an admirable quality to be sure, this club has shown a great deal of heart AND ALWAYS bounces right back from a disgusting effort.
UNBELIEVABLE!!!! These kids haven't comeback in this fashion all year and picked this day to do it??? We'll be okay if we stay in the 5th slot(Connelly,Fowler or Gundrenson),but should a team behind us win the lottery, picking 6th(The worst case scenario)could bring back memories of Scott Scissons!!! Tuesday evening we will know the outcome. Keep in mind, being in the 5th seat, gives us an 8.10% chance of winning the whole shabang, but also a 17% chance of moving down into the 6th.
Its days like this that in one way make you proud that your team played all out until the end. Its also days like today when I think of our erstwhile delusional antagonist, 4D, wondering what kind of kockamamie, irrationale he'd whip out trying to discredit this particular version of the Islanders.

Now back to more pressing matters. What is Columbus' shot at the 4 hole where they currently reside. That spot should have been ours, hell we were down three goals to the second best team in our conference. We should have folded the friggin tents. Guess our team has more character than we.
These are good kids,Red. We only want what is best for the Franchise(Hopefully we aren't caught in an empty LIGHTHOUSE and rooting for the future success of another City's team--I shudder the thought Eeker). Although I highly doubt it,perhaps this game will serve somewhat as growth for Tavares, who was all over the ice during the 3rd period. You gotta love Moulson and his courage. The guy worked his butt off all season and not once slackened off. Being a Cornell grad, you get the impression from his understanding of the game, why! Nodding Yes Now onto tuesday's(8:00PM- Versus) lottery drawing. Previously I presented a scenario where the Rangers at #10 would win the draw and bump us to #6. I stand corrected. A team can only move up four slots should it win the drawing, hence only the 6th - 9th slotted team can bump us down one slot(to 6). Thus we will either pick 1st,5th or 6th overall!! As Mills Lane used to say;"lets get it on!" Based on the top players available-- C/W-Hall C-Seguin, D-Fowler,W-Connelly,D-Gundrenson,we had better stay at #5. There is reportedly somewhat of a dropoff from #6 on!!! Can anyone say Scissons??? PLEASE!!!! Stay away from SIX(Although there are some solid prospects from 6-12)!!!!!! Time to pray(isn't there a Rabbi in the House?). Pope PS: To answer your question,Red,we lost 2.6% chance of winning the prize as a result of todays OT!!! The bigger deal would be moving from 5th to 6th!!!
And being a Cornell grad he'll probably want more money next season.

Unless of course he talks to another Cornell grad. Maybe Bettman will make Moulson stay on the Island. You know, that big proIslander conspiracy Dykstra's always talking about.
Milbury graduated from Colgate, not Cornell,Red,if that is what you were referring to. Being a cynic,I worry about Moulson have just completed a salary drive season and relaxing once his pockets are filled(REMEMBER MARK LAWRENCE Eeker). He seems like a mature young man however, who does appreciate, love and respect his current station in life, with every intention of striving for better(I HOPE Pope)

btw Milbury went to college? As my old man was known to quip, "What college? Barber College?".

Yes,Red! He double majored at Colgate(Political Science and Haircutting). After being elected the NHL Village Idiot,he proceeded to become The Barber Of Nassau, specializing in bloodletting!! Sheesh

According to Dykstra we Islander fans should erect a shrine to the guy for all the good he's done us.

Actually, there's very little about Bettman I like. He's overexpanded. Diluted the talent base. And most of all cheapened the great game of hockey with the sideshow called a shootout.

Give me Campbell or Ziegler anyday!

Lucky there is one real wild card that may be available when we pick. Kirill the Thrill Kabanov. The guys gots the goods. Extremely talented. A showstopper with a nasty edge. Maturity is a problem. You never know, Wang may step in and "suggest" such a move. The kid has ability to sell tickets IF he hits ALL the high notes. A stretch, maybe but one that might interest Wang!

Yeah, thanks guys!

I REALLY wanted top three this year. Good value at five but I think top three is where the goodies are!

Wonder if there's any way to trade up to three?

Red! based on reports,we cannot go wrong with either the two D men or RW Connolly. The latter is a big kid who scores a point per game. Had he not been injured, most scouts put him in the mix with Hall and Seguin. Should he excel in the World Games,he may move up where he should be,freeing up either Gunbranson or Fowler, the two D men. If not,we certainly could use a big scoring winger to add to the rebuild.

I recently read that this kid felt uncomfortable in No America and may not come here. Some scouts have soured on his overall attitude (See Filatov and Brendl).

From what I've read its Hall, Seguin, and Fowler then the next tier. Hey, we could get lucky in the next tier but I'd of rather hit on more of the sure things.

True if Connelly can bring it then yes, I'd be looking for more scoring.

Funny, but back when offense was the order of the day I would have opted for a big dman, after all I've been known as one of the more anally retentive defensive minded coaches myself but these days when teams go into prolonged scoring slumps that rival our favorite nine's ineptitude at driving in risp, I'll opt for the scorer first! I think you can always pick up a strong dman in a later in the draft.

Fowler actually is rated 5th by some, with Gunbranson moving ahead of him. Provided Snow doesn't trade down, get cute and do something stupid in the process,we should be okay,Red. It will be interesting to see how the ratings finally unfold after the combine and World games.

You never know....
Will Tavares make the jump like Stamkos?
What if he doesn't?
Hey, many of us didn't like the previous draft; dropping down.
Myself included wanted Schenn. How does Bailey look now compared to Schenn?
You never know.
BUT, what I DO know is that I Do NOT want to, any longer, make this an annual event.
Let's make the playoffs in 2011...and not at #8.

I've come to like Bailey. I didn't like the trade down move at the time.

I STILL don't like some of the moves at last year's draft. They over spent to get DaHaan and REALLLLLLY went overboard tabbing TWO goalies on the second AND third rounds. I love Ferraro's kid AND the Avs center that went after him in the second round.

Now we sit with a pair of twos and a pair of threes. Wonder if we'lll be trading up at all?
