" Donnie Walsh acknowledged that he can offer more than a one-year contract to potential free agents after a report surfaced stating that he would offer Jason Kidd a three-year deal. If the Knicks are going to offer Kidd three years, which is what the Mavericks are offering, the chances of him going to New York look much better - even if the offer is for less money. Kidd would love to play for Mike D'Antoni and his kids live in New York. "I have a little leeway which will leave me in good position for next year," Walsh wrote to The Associated Press. "I know what it is but do not talk much about it."" |

I don't care what anyone says, money talks. If kidd comes to the Knicks he loses about 9 million over the next 3 years. No matter how much money these athletes have they rarely pass it up.

I'm not the biggest fan of this move but if Kidd does well I'll quickly turn into a fan of this move should it happen

I can't believe I'm saying this but I totally agree with you, will. I can't understand why in the world you would waste money on an over the hill star. This move makes absolutely no sense to me. |

i dont know specifics of money or anything. however, yes jason kidd is not the player he once was. yes hes old and aging and declining. but also yes, he is better then many pgs in the league now. realize this too. jkidd would not be brought in the be the savior, rather a smart veteran to hopefully lead and teach this young kids on the knicks roster. also, in their attempts to recruit lebron/wade/bosh/amare etc, who is more appealing for a superstar scorer, chris duhon, or one of the best pgs of this generation, jason kidd. i dont know if i like this move or not, but if financially it doesn't hinder the plans for 2010, why not? its not like its this move preventing another. bring some excitement back to ny, cmon! |

Jason Kidd turned the Nets franchise around several years ago for sure, but he couldn't stay in front of Tony Parker in the Finals six years ago, got destroyed by Anthony Johnson in the playoffs three years ago, and got embarassed by Chris Paul in the first round last year after knuckleheading his way off the Nets.
His passing is still top notch, but his defense has slipped considerably (he'll still get some steals, which some equate to defense) and he has never been able to shoot. Three years? I think not. |

Kidd will make this season interesting and a lil more bearable. THe more I think about it, a 3 year deal might be a mistake. Unless his presence attracts and reassures potential FAs. Which it might, depending on how he does this year.

That's another way of looking at it. Good point, though I still think the Knicks are being used to get more of Cuban's dough. |

Your right about Parker, Johnson and Paul beating up on Kidd in those series but your not taking into account that it was actually thier game plan to make Anthony Johnson shoot the ball because they knew he couldn't beat us playing that way. He put up something like 40 points twice if I remember correctly but they still lost to us. That was the game plan. Getting beat by Parker is nothing to be ashamed of but if you remember our big men were completely pathetic and useless against Duncan so Kidd was used to assist them on defense a lot to try and strip him before he could shoot...it didn't work but Kidd had multiple assignments in the finals that year as well as against LA. Chris Paul...he's Chris Paul. He'll probably end up being one of the best Pg's the game has ever seen and Kidd isn't what he used to be when he could handle a young quick player like him. Kidd has lost a lot over the years but he's still an above average point guard. I hate Kidd after what he did to my team even though i'm thankful for him doing what he did for us, he's a disgrace. I hope he signs with the Knicks for two reasons, the first one is because this is the only step he hasn't taken yet to smack the Net fans across the face and the second one is I want him to have no choice but to be remembered as a Net. If he plays another three years for Dallas at a high level he may have an argument but as of right now he's definetly remembered as a Net and I know he doesn't like that. So good luck! |

It's not a good fit for this team. We need to develop a young point guard. I liked the idea of Kidd in a mentor role like theguy suggested earlier, but we don't even have a young point guard for him to mentor. This team needs to go after players they can actually develop, not players who peaked 5 years ago.
He might be better than what we have now, but that's not a good argument. Go after Childress or resign Nate, or try to pull a trade for a legitimate young point guard. |

Kidd going back to Dallas is a blessing in disguise. I want ot see Donnie either sign someone such as Mike Bibby, who has plenty left and is worthy of a three year deal or find a nice fresh talent. There is only one thing more boring than having a young team led by knucklehead guards. That would be an old and stale one.
