"The Grizzlies have agreed to trade Quentin Richardson to the Clippers in exchange for Zach Randolph.
The Grizzlies just acquired Quentin Richardson last week, as his large expiring contract makes him a very tradeable commodity. He should find some minutes behind Al Thornton and Eric Gordon, but remains a three-point specialist in fantasy leagues."

"The Clippers have agreed to trade power forward Zach Randolph to the Grizzlies in exchange for Quentin Richardson, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The move allows L.A. to clear space for No. 1 draft pick Blake Griffin while unloading Randolph's contract, which pays $33.3 million over the next two seasons. Richardson's deal expires next summer, giving the Clippers financial flexibility to pursue 2010's bumper crop of free agents. The deal won't be official until July 8th."

This is terrible news for David Lee. Detroit and Memphis are no longer options. I guess the only options he has left are OKC and Portland.

It may be wise for him to re-sign with the Knicks.

Great deal by the Clippers, although I haven't seen this anywhere else....Funny how Portland did the same thing when they drafted Greg Oden, and now the Clippers get Blake Griffin and trade away Zach Randolph. Both of these teams obviously never wanted Zach Randolph to meet their rookies. That tells you a lot about the guy.

You know its funny Youth is always a good thing in any sport but if he went to Portland it would be a big mistake. They don't need youth they need to add a few vets into the mix.

I'd love a Lee for Rudy Fernandez trade. Keep in mind, David Lee has to agree to a sign and trade to Portland.

David Lee is going on his 4th year in the league. He's hardly what you consider "youth" anymore. He's not old, but he's a 4 year vet, and he was a 4 yr player at Florida, so he's pretty experienced.

Understood but I was talking about Youth as in age. Portland really doesn't need more young guys on that team

If OKC and Portland are the only 2 options left for David Lee, how likely is it that he actually gets the $10 million per year offer he is looking for?

I don't see Portland spending that for David Lee, and while he might be a good fit in OKC, I don't know if David Lee is high up onn their list. If I was either team, I would go after a veteran like Rasheed Wallace before I went after David Lee.

All that aside, what is the likelihood of David Lee actually not getting a new contract and pulling a Ben Gordon (playing out the last year of his contract and waiting to be an unrestricted free agent)?

I think the chances of this happening are definitely increasing.

Yeah Lee just lost ALOT of leverage. OKC is reportedly targeting Paul Millsap. Rasheed Wallace is a bad fit there. He's near the twilight of his career, and a headcase, and they're a young team on the rise.

I like the ZBO trade for Memphis. He's a FANTASTIC fit next to Thabeet. They have a nice young team.

PG Conley
SG Mayo
SF Gay
PF Randolph
C Thabeet/M. Gasol

As for the Clippers, their bigman logjam appears to be cleared up.

PG - B. Davis
SG - E. Gordon
SF - A. Thornton
PF - B. Griffin/M. Camby
C - C. Kaman/D. Jordan

If you replace Baron Davis with a pass first PG that's a pretty good team right there. If they were to let Mike Dunleavy go as coach, and hire someone who likes to run, they can be an exciting team in '09/10.

I love this trade for both teams, especially for Griffin.

So let me get this straight...

The Grizzlies basically give Pau Gasol to the Lakers for nothing because (allegedly) they were trying to save money, then just a year later they go out and add a guy who makes just as much as Gasol, is not as complete a player as Gasol, and who now has been jettisoned 3 times in the last two years, including twice by a couple of the worst teams in the league?

Interesting.
