Rookie QB, rookie Shon Greene, 2nd year TE, a full season under their belts playing RR's defense, hopefully a healthy Leon W. added to the #1 running game, hopefully a healthy Kris Jenkins added to the #1 defense, the future looks BRILLIANT.
We need another shutdown corner and a punter.
At this time, after almost EVERY end of a Jet season I'd have been focused on the draft for the last 6 weeks or so.
Todays game ended when Greene went down, possibly even sooner when Strickland went down. We're good enough now to be looking for depth instead of a ton of starters.

Seeing Sanchez take huge strides and play the way he did today...this team is a masterpiece. Tannenbaum should be given all the credit in the world not only for building it but finally getting it right at the most important position, the coach. Rex is a dream come true.

I know it's not popular but I have to give major kudos to Woody Johnson. People can say what they want about him but Tannenbaum isn't able to make these great signings and trade up for players like Revis and Sanchez without him opening his wallet BIG TIME.

good point on Strickland when he was replaced by lito all hell broke loose, Lowery had a treble game in fact the secondary was bad for most of the game, but I like what I see, we have youth at important positions, coaching staff intact, just a few upgrades and with luck players come back healthy from injuries and I believe this team will be the beast of east, but somehow some way Rex has to find away to beat Peyton, the Colts have owned Rex so far

Also, a true #1 receiver, a pass rushing stud, and, most likely, a RB to replace Thomas Jones.

This is a better team than what the Jets normally have, but let's not go overboard.

It's the truth. It may be a little too soon to say it because we haven't won a Super Bowl yet but look at this core of young players:

Revis, Harris, Rhodes, Mangold, Ferguson, Greene, Sanchez, Edwards, Keller, Cotchery, Leonhard and Leon. I can't think of a team that has a young core that great and that's not including the 30+ year olds (Scott, Jenkins, Faneca etc) who are great still have a few years left.

Tannenbaum has built a masterpiece here. Possibly the best built Jet team in franchise history. Have we had better teams in the past? Possibly but none that were built to win now and in the future like this.

Edit: Forgot Leon and Leonhard.

You're a young fella,Ozz! You should only be lucky enough to watch the Jets of '67-70 perform. Their OL at its height(Dave Herman,Bob Tallimini,John Schmitt,Randy Rassmussen,Winston Hill) was impeccable. Their D Linemen(John Elliot,Paul Rochester,Jerry Philbin,Verlon Biggs)could rush the passer and stop the run. The 'Backers(Ralph Baker,Al Atkinson,Larry Grantham)were as good as any in the League. I don't want to bore you, although the names only get better, but that team was as well oiled a machine for that short period of time as any I ever saw.

I certainly do wish I was around for that. I wasn't born until '72 so that's a bit before my time.

But I hear what Ozz is saying; and I agree. This is as well built a team as the Jets have had since I've been watching them.

And this is a point I made earlier in the year; the core of this team is intact. They have good young talent at important positions.

They have a fantastic offensive line that is relatively young and will be together for a few more years. They have young talent at the skill positions with Washington, Greene, Cotchery and Keller. And, most importantly, they have a legit starting QB for the next decade.

Defensively they have the best CB in the league who hasn't even hit his prime yet. A budding star at ILB in Harris and a solid group of role players in their back seven. And a coach that can get the most out of his guys.

One more offseason where they add some depth to the lines, find a legit #2 CB and a legit pass rusher, and this team will have as much potential as any.

Hey what about Johnny Sample? Pete Lammons? Matt Snell and my favorite Emerson Boozer?
Jim Turner?
1969 I became a sports fan living in the great state of NY. Mets, Jets and Knicks all won titles the 1st year I watched them and I thought this "fan" thing was going to be great fun since MY team wins it all.
GOD how little I knew.......

As much as I enjoyed watching those teams I think Ozz has a point when he says this team is being "built" to last.
I think Tannenbaum is trying to build a team that has more than a 3 year run and then nothing for a decade and a half.

I finally have high hopes for the future of this team,I believe losing last Sunday will motivate more then being blown out in the SB,those teams that come in second never come back.

Like everyone says,a real pass rusher and another shut down QB,the return of Leon and Jenkins,we will be fine.

Overall,it would be fair to say this group is the best since the '67-70 teams. The 'sack exchange' team was excellent, but lacking in more areas. In order to finally break thru the damn wall fate has blocked the Jets from achieving (the ultimate goal),a huge upgrade is needed to play along side Revis for starters. A dynamic conventional pass rushing D lineman must be added as well as a young wide bodied run stuffing DT stud who would lessen the dropoff should Jenkins go down again. Being abit disgusted with Braylon Edwards' mindset and 'don't get it' attitude,I wouldn't mind seeing a clone with a head on his shoulders and more reliable hands replacing him. Kerry Rhodes has become an enigma. One would have thought his supposed aggressive style was taylor made for his new coaches philosophy. As it turned out,he rarely was aggressive. Perhaps he should be given another season or training camp to see if his playmaking skill can re-emerge. Of course should a team come along and present an offer that can't be refused,se la ve,Kerry! As disappointed as I was to see this franchise be 60 minutes away from the ultimate only to be left at the alter once again, how can I complain about the unexpected meteoric strides this regime has made. On paper the future is indeed bright. On the field, just stay away from the legendary season and career shortening or ending injuries this franchise has suffered thru since Joe dealt with The Devil and great things are bound to happen! I hope I am around to see it!
