Agreed, Leonhard showed everybody that he could play the position above adverage even without the best skill set.

Revis not only established himself as the best Cb in the NFL this year but possibly the best Cb since Deion Sanders. The only problem is Revis can't cover everyone and Shepperd was horrible. Lowery had his bright spots but he just simply isn't fast enough to be a #2 Cb. We need a good Cb to play opposite of Revis and made the Qb hold the ball a little longer which will cause many more sacks. Here are some options through the draft:
Joe Haden Cb Florida - By far the best Cb in this years draft and one of the best Cb prospects in years imo. Complete lock down defender who is also very good in run support. Unfortunately he isnt an option for us unless we trade into the top 10 maybe top 12 which is highly unlikely but Tannenbaum is probably the most aggressive GM in the NFL so you never know. It worked out well trading up for Revis right? Patrick Robinson Cb Florida State - As skilled as Haden in most ways and has great potential and overall ability but his inconsistency and mistakes have made him drop dramatically. He was ranked by most as the #1 corner coming into this draft but he b_lew it with the mediocre season he had. He's inconsistent to the point where I wouldn't want him even if he fell to us. It's shame because as I said he's very talented. Kyle Wilson Cb Boise State - Physical corner despite only being 5'10. Very athletic, big time playmaker and can really lay the wood (hits hard). Its not often that you find a guy who will jam his man at the line of scrimmage, hit him in the mouth if necessary and then be able to stay with a receiver stride for stride. That's a rare combination. I didn't see any flaws in him while watching him but scouting reports on him think he needs some work on his technique. Something I think Rex could handle. Javier Arenas Cb Alabama - I bet you couldn't tell I love Alabama's defense. Myron Lewis Cb Vanderbilt - Big for a Cb at 6'2 205 but pretty athletic. I had my eye on him before the season started but I didn't get to see nearly as much of him as I would have liked. From what I saw I think he could end up being a slightly more athletic Corey Webster. Big, tough but makes a lot of plays. I wish I saw more of him because i'm not confident in that opinion of him but I just feel like there's something to him, I just think he'll be a solid player. |

If Wilson is available at 29 I really hope we take him, I've seen him play this year and he plays like 6'4 rather then 5'10.

Kerry Rhodes is as skilled as most Db's in the entire NFL but i'm REALLY tired of his "hollywood" image and not giving it his all every game. I'm just tired of it. He's not even producing at a high level which would make most of his forget about the plays he took off. He need to really commit to this team or get the hell out of here. It certainly appears as though he'll be gone. Two safeties I really like:
Earl Thomas S Texas - Eric Berry is the best safety prospect to come out since Sean Taylor and Berry will likely be an all around playmaking beast BUT I think Earl Thomas may end up being a better "centerfielder" type safety. I have a comparison that I think is perfect, Bob Sanders! They're about the same size and Thomas is a big time playmaker like sanders. 8 INT's last year with 72 tackles! I love this guys. I think he could develope into a big upgrade over Rhodes. He's small but tough, good in run support, good tackler and a turnover machine. The only problem is we will probably have to trade up to around 18-25 to get Earl. That's just an early projection of where he'll go but that's probably where he'll stay. I think he's worth trading up for and it's not unreasonable to trade up a few spots for him but like I said, we don't wanna lose even more of our draft picks. I honestly believe Earl Thomas is going to be a Bob Sanders type of safety. Nate Allen S South Florida - 6'2 206 with great range, solid ballhawking skills, plays hard every down and good in run support. Another "centerfielder" type of safety but he just does everything really well. I think he'll end up being a late 2nd round round pick and good starting safety for someone. the only thing that I think works against him is the fact that he played on a team that had such great and consistent pressure on the Qb with George Selvie and Jason Pierre-Paul being in thier face every down. That makes every Db's job a lot easier. |

Okay i'm done now. I hope everyone likes them. Don't take these for anything other than what they are, just opinions on players from a big college football fan who has hits and misses with prospects every year like eveyone else does...except I don't get paid.
Just to throw this our there, if the draft was held tonight my top 5 prospects for our first round picks would look like this: 1. Earl Thomas 2. Mike Iupati 3. Kyle Wilson 4. Jerry Hughes 5. Terrance Cody Let the discussion begin!!! This message has been edited. Last edited by: ozzman, |

Put Leohnard in Rhodes body and you have an All-Pro player Put J-Co in Braylon's body and you have an All-Pro |

Great point, it just goes to show you that some of these guys have all the god given talent, but haven't got a clue how to use it.

WR Benn has to be the sleeper of the draft. His ability was hidden the past two seasons due to Illinois erratic play of QB Juice Williams. The kid is big and fast with great hands. If we could obtain a 3rd round pick(for dopey and undependable Braylon Edwards) and he could slide to us it would be a no brainer. |

I think Cotchery,as is, has played like an All Pro. I do agree with you regarding Braylon's head. |

I was just watching Todd McShay and his reports on the senior bowl and some players.
Kyle Wilson: Showed that he's capable of staying with and defending the speedy/quick Wr's which was a concern and his stock is up. Taylor Mays: I didn't hear all of what he said on Mays but he said his stock is down and he could be a late first round pick now. I hope that's not true and he goes before Earl Thomas, which would push Earl further down to us. Dexter McCluster: May have worked himself into the 2nd round. Scouts are starting to remember that his measurables didn't matter when he was dominating in college and they won't matter too much in the NFL. I would love to get Dexter. Terrance Cody: Showed up at 370 pounds! They said he looked awful in play and appearance and McShay said he could see Cody falling out of the first two round!! Stunning. I saw this picture the other day but I didn't think he actually GAINED weight since his last weigh in: |

Wow thats really surprising with Cody, If he does fall out of the first two rounds I would want the jets to take him. I mean the talents there he just has to get in shape.

I would too. He was arguably (possibly only 2nd to Rolando McClain) the anchor of that dominant Alabama defense for two years and he may be out of shape but...is any Nt really IN shape? He needs to lose 20-25 pounds and get stronger but nobody should doubt his ability for a second. Cody is the best NT available through the draft since Vince Wilfork came out. He's not on that level but he's still a good option for a team who is undersized and running a 3-4 defense.

My God!! This guy looks more fit for WWF action than NFL! He probably has more body fat than a Baluga Whale. If this is an indication of how serious he is about the hard work of conditioning, stay away!! |
