so APPERENTLY cena was "injured" at summerslam but somehow this dangerous injury did not affect him just 24 hours later in a match on raw and now it has gone serious so no cena at unforgiven , who will the replacement?

Weird, haven't heard any rumors of Cena having any neck problems and you're right, he wrestled the next night.

My first thought was that he was suspended? Could be but if Cena's been clean all this time, I doubt he would do a bone-headed move now. Movie role? With Orton out though, the RAW roster gets real thin with giving Cena time off for a movie role SO I would have to think that something was found that was indeed serious. If true, then I wish Cena nothing but the best and a speedy recovery.

With Cena out and Rey in, I guess WWE gave in to Rey's contract demands in their negotiations with him as they need Rey now.

John Cena will be heading to San Antonio, Texas on Wednesday to have his neck looked at by Dr. Lloyd Youngblood, the surgeon who performed major neck surgeries on Steve Austin, Edge, Lita, and others. WWE.com reported that Cena will also be flying to Pittsburgh tomorrow to be examined by neurosurgeon Dr. Joseph Maroon.

WWE's website posted some comments tonight from Cena regarding his injury:

“It needs to be dealt with because I lost most of the feeling in my right arm and am having pain in my shoulder....I’m losing 20 percent of my strength per day. If I don’t do anything about it, the injury will end up rupturing and then the surgery will be more difficult. It’s not easy, because surgery never is."

“Every moment I stay away from the table is another moment something bad can happen. The disk is so bulged out and inflamed that any sudden move could make it worse.”

thats too bad for cena , it looks like he was getting pushed for the title again.

WWE has announced that John Cena is undergoing neck surgery today in Pittsburgh under Dr. Joseph Maroon, Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. They opted to go ahead with the surgery under Maroon and will not be visiting Lloyd Youngblood in Texas tomorrow.

WWE.com reported that they hope to get comments from both Cena and Maroon later today.

After Cena's surgery today, World Wrestling Entertainment announced that the prognosis was "excellent".

Dr. Joseph Maroon, who performed the surgery, said that Cena could start working out as early as next week and should be back in the ring in the next 2-4 months. The earliest you can expect him back would be Survivor Series or at the latest, The Royal Rumble 2009.

Dr. Maroon told the WWE website, “We performed a microsurgical removal of a large disk fragment compression on the spinal cord which was weakening the nerve leading to the right arm," He also said, "We created a small incision in the front of the neck using an operating microscope to remove the fragment from the spinal cord and nerve. The operation took approximately an hour and a half."

The basic feeling within WWE is that the company and Cena were both extremely lucky the injury wasn't worse, as it could have necessitated fusion surgery.

it looks like Cena lucked out and went to the right Dr. with a better course of treatment. Sounds as if they just cleaned the disk up and snipped out the piece that was impinging on the nerves leading to his arm. Good to hear.

$20 says this lead up to ,from his miracle comeback and extreme working out from his last injury.

he's gotta take it easy ,isin't he recently engaged aswell?
