Very good PPV with lots of good spots and action.
The opening match was the ECW Scramble match and it was a good start to the show. I believe everyone except Christian had a pinfall and was ECW Champ for the moment. It was hard to keep track of who had the pinfall by the end but Dreamer retained which was cool. The next match was IC Champ Jericho v. Misterio in a title v. mask match. Match of the night. Lots of action, high spots and near pinfalls. These 2 work excellently together and it was a great match with Jericho finally getting Rey's mask off only to find Rey wearing a 2nd mask underneath. Rey then pinned a stunned Jericho to win back his IC title. This feud is far from over. After this segment, Jericho went backstage to complain to Teddy about wanting a rematch tonight. Teddy said no. The next match was Ziggler v. Khali in a no DQ, No count out match. Ziggler got the pin after Kane returned and attacked Khali with a chair. Backstage, we see Vince scold Teddy for being such a long-running GM and told him he's boring and still under probation. Teddy being embarrassed and pushed to doing something unboring made the unified tag titles match between the Colons and Legacy into a Triple threat match now also having Edge and Jericho. During the match, the Colons and Legacy stayed to their corners and tried to avoid having Edge or Jericho in the match. Eventually, Edge and Jericho got their tags in and the ever opportunistic Edge got a spear for the title win! Backstage we saw Orton shrug off Legacy's tag title shot hopes and Dibiase getting in Randy's face about being tired of being nothing but a lackey for Orton. Ted then walked away. Very good to see! Cody looked shocked and dismayed at Ted's outburst and told Orton that he would talk to Ted. Cody is such a stooge!! Up next was Women's Champ Melina v. Michelle McCool. Good match. Michelle has improved a lot! Beats Melina for the title and beats Mickie to being the first Diva to hold both the Women's title and Diva belt. Next up was Champ Punk v. Jeff Hardy. Good match. The end saw Hardy pin Punk but his leg was under the rope. The ref sees this after and reverses the win and the match continues. Punk goes for the GTS, Jeff elbows him in the eye and escapes. Punk goes to the corner to cower holding his eye, the ref holds back Jeff and goes to check on Punk who then kicks the ref in the back when he truns away. The ref DQs Punk. Jeff realizes that Punk has gone full heel and goes after him on the ramp and goes off on him as refs try to hold Jeff back. With Punk now acting as a reluctant heel who is just doing what he has to, this feud is about to heat up as Jeff assumes that same mindset. The next match was Miz v. Cena which went about as expected. Cena basically toyed with him and took him to school. I expected more from Miz than just bravado. Hopefully we'll see Miz do something on RAW. The final match was the 3 stages of he** match. The first stage was a regular match and was very hard hitting as they took it outside. HHH was shown taping up his leg earlier in teh evening and came out with such high leg supports, wraps and braces that one has to wonder the condition of his legs for this type of match. He either was still selling last week's leg being hurt or there is something going on there and he's toughing it out for RAW because there is no Batista or HBK at the moment. Orton got the pin in the first stage. The second stage was a anything goes, falls count anywhere match and HHH quickly came in with a chair and went off on Orton and got a quick pin. Very quick match for the 2nd stage with a visibly hobbling HHH. Made me wonder about that leg even more. The last stage was a stretcher match. This was pretty long and hard hitting. At one point, HHH and Orton rolled down the ramp on the stretcher and the stretcher crashed off to the side and orton seemed to legit hurt his tailbone with something on the way down. The end saw HHH and Orton fighting at the top of the ramp with the stretcher near the finish line. HHH got Orton on the stretcher and was about to roll him over the line when Cody came out and stopped the stretcher. HHH fought off Cody, then Ted came out to help and they got the upper hand. HHH removed a part of the ramp where he had hidden his hammer!! He took out the lackeys but Orton got the piece of ramp that HHH took off and laid out HHH with it. Orton put HHH on the stretcher and got the win. It ended with Orton celebrating with the belt when HHH walked up behind and hit him with the hammer. Orton got up as the PPV went off the air. |
