I haven't been thus up for a night of pro wrestling in a long time.
Overall, I am more TNA than the current WWE. However, unless there is a surprise, you can see it coming on TNA:
-Kevin Nash is interviewed and excited about Hogan coming over.
-Intros have him in red/gold, but he shows up in all black.
-Scott Hall and 6-Pak (or whatever his name is) are at ringside. Bischoff is here, too. Easy to smell an NWO re-union.
-Mick Foley and Taz already in TNA and now joined Jeff Hardy and that stupid skit with Val Venis.
-But, a great, early-style TNA match between Kurt Angle and AJ Styles. THIS is how TNA was when it started and the match was great!
*********************
On the WWE front, it was nostalgic bringing back Bret Hart. It was great, with no gimmicks, for him and Sean to bury the hatchet.
-Average show
-Average sidebars
-Hot divas
-Did I mention Hot Divas?
****************
And then, at the very end, Vince ruins it with his over-inflated, "the world is about me/this is MY show" ego and, rarther than have an actual "feel good" moment for a WWE legend, he kicks Hart in the nnutz. The air leaves the building and the show ends.
Mad

I enjoyed both shows with by far the highlight of both being the excelent Angle Vs Styles TNA Title match ( Styles retained ).

It was great seeing everyone but clearly few if any looked to be in any condition to work matches .

Was quite dispointed to see Raw end with Mr. McMahon nutzkicking Hart.

Do you think so? Bret didn't look in too good a shape.
However, I live in Orange County NY and Bret Hart headlined a house show in our local high school a little while back (with Jim Neidhart and MISTER Kennedy.....Kennedy) which I was unable to attend due to conflicting work schedules.
So maybe you're right, it was staged to stoke a feud.

Vince Mcmahon Vs Bret Hart ?

Heart attack victim Bret looked old, haggared and out of condition and Vince is begining to show every bit age of his 65 years ,

I can't imagine a one on one match between the two being anything other horrible.

They have got to have partbers if nothing else.

Taker /Hart vs Vinny Mac & Shaun ?

First off, back to the original post of this thread.

TNA had a whole hour to showcase their talent before going head to head with RAW and used that time to give us 2 matches, 1 of which was a no contest Doh

Typical Bischoff booking. That worked back in the 90s because they had a payoff later in the show but there was nothing of the sort to be found on this show other than hotshot booking.

So in the first hour, we got about 8 or more former WWE wrestlers showing up/announcing/fighting. Really? They used the hour to show former WWE guys. Isn't the idea to get the viewers to not think about the WWE? Doh

So we get a first match in a cage spotlighting the X Division! Great! First off, the camera angles they used were horrible, with the bright red and thick bars of the cage, any outside shots were useless. Then the wrestling in the ring was poorly booked for about the first 5 minutes of the match. They hyped up Amazing Red going into the match and he got to do all of one spotlighted move. Doh Then Homicide gets a weapon and lays out everyone and they call the match a no contest. Doh Then Homicide tries to climb out of the cage through the top. That cage has to be the most dangerous looking cage I've ever seen. Just to get to the hole at the top takes incredible strength which is not a good idea when you're hanging upside down and you've just been wrestling. Incredibly dangerous. In what turned out to be hard to watch, Homicide couldn't get out of the cage and wound up falling. All this to have Jeff Hardy show up the entire X-Division just by showing up. Doh Just incredibly stupid booking.

Then we get a decent match between Tara Yuk and ODB.

Lashley shows up only to not say a word and have his wife speak for him to say he's quitting?! Doh Talk about stupid booking.

Oh wait, Flair arrives by limo and Hogan's on the way. What riveting entertainment! Then we get Foley unable to get in and Nash doing a very low-key interview. A horrible looking Hall and Xpac arriving. Oh and let's not forget the Beautiful People's poker game and everyone walking around with 5 hour energy drinks in their hands. Doh

I mean really? This is the big war they were bringing to WWE. Doh ROFL

They were talking so much about being the #1 trending topic on Twitter while they were on, what they didn't say was how much everyone was slamming what they were seeing.

Then Hogan comes out to speak at 8:55pm as if whatever he had to say was more important than the appearance of Bret Hart on RAW. We've seen Hogan regularly on TV and the net through his reality show, his divorce crap, his daughter, his son's jailtime and trial, his Hulkamania tour which he barely got through because of his hip and American Gladiators - we haven't seen Bret on TV except for the HOF and not in a WWE ring for anything in 12 years. It really was not going to matter what Hogan was coming out to say which turned out to be nothing by internet reports. But if we missed his nothing speech and his getting interrupted by Hall and Xpac, we also missed Sting in the rafters! Doh
Wow, we haven't seen THAT before!

Just an incredibly blown opportunity by TNA to do something to get people excited about their product. This is how the first should've gone - Give Amazing Red a one on one match, give AJ a promo to promote his match against Angle later on the show (something that wasn't done until almost 10pm - really?), have Samoa Joe have a one on one match as well all the while showing some of the old performers watching or showing up and being impressed by the young guns but no it was Bischoff booking and writing and we got almost all ex-WWE performers and WCW-like storylines. I was wondering when we would see Steiner and Norton coming out as well.

WWE for its part didn't seem to deviate from its typical RAW show and continued storylines with no real hotshot booking. So much for all the speculation and talk about WWE being concerned about TNA. The Bret-HBK with all its real-life talking in the ring was riveting and the rest of the show was good. I could do without Hornswoggle in DX and with Swagger getting a darn push but Kofi v. Randy was gold as was Legacy finally standing up to Randy. Bret confronting Vince was good and I know some of you may be upset that Vince attacked Bret but that's how they explain a guest host coming back in non-guest host fashion. Vince doesn't do that then there's no reason for Bret to be back. Bret is signed on a short contract that extends just beyond WM so this is all leading to a match against Vince at WM to end the feud and to once again humiliate Vince at WM. For the record, Bret didn't suffer a heart attack - he suffered a stroke after a motorcycle accident a year or so after retiring (from the concussion he got from Goldberg) where he stupidly wasn't wearing a helmet and landed on his head which caused the stroke. He actually looked and sounded pretty good to me, considering going through that - albeit being years ago. I don't expect the match to last very long and it's all to have Bret lock in the sharpshooter one last time on Vince.

Well, if nothing else the Angle / Styles match was outstanding ( imo ) It went to a clean finish without the dq's or run ins as we see 90 % of time .
